You're looking to build a home that perhaps resembles houses like this below?

The granite used to build those homes was indigenous to the area and was quarried locally. That is likely not your situation, so the best you can hope in duplicating the appearance is to consider Eldorado Stone or PlyGem for a simulated stone product.

You would build a normal framed home with typical insulation and then simply apply this stone to the face. Or build the home from concrete blocks and face it with the stone. I'm not saying granite cannot be purchased but it's mostly specially quarried for commercial projects and the quarries are in New England and Minnesota.

Construction costs vary geographically. Ask a local stone mason, maybe a few.

I think I'd just make the exterior granite, then put insulation between a brick or plaster wall in the interior. What do you think about this regarding price?

To have the look of an old home does not require you to use the construction methods and materials of an old home. There are plenty of granite fieldstone veneers that can be applied to a modern-built home to give it the look you want. Finding the skilled, experienced tradespeople to build your home using old-fashioned methods will be difficult (if not impossible) and very, very expensive.

Start off your adventure with subscriptions to Fine Homebuilding and Journal of Light Construction to learn about modern home building techniques, including veneer cavity construction, and thin stone application. Read Building Science Corporation. Reevaluate your plans.

IMO you need to find someone that builds stone houses if you trully want to have a stone house I think we need a lot more info for sure where you live and who you have for an architect . This is not like using a building kit you got your kids pricing this will not be done on this site for sure. It also sounds like a huge house so the info has to include a floor plan that you are thinking about..

That is about 9' ceiling height, possibly 8'6" but do not think so. There is no way anyone here can even venture a guess as to the cost of a house based on the little info offered. Even if you had 100% drawings of the entire house it is still next to impossible for anyone to venture anything other than a complete wild a** guess.

To address the people complaining about my post, Please understand that I am not an architect and that I was just looking for the cost of exterior granite walls, not a detailed plan. Don't insult people just because they didn't get their idea across well or because they don't know enough, that's what this website is for.

My confusion is why are you asking? Are you trying to gauge how much more it is build a house from stone?

Agree with Mark, this is not the forum to ask about pricing. Nobody here can give you as accurate a price as a local contractor/stone mason. Get multiple bids if you can.

I wasn’t complaining about your post. i was just honestly very surprised that you apparently had no idea how huge a house you were talking about. Square footage is not exactly a complicated formula. You mentioned one wing at 80’ and the other wing at 100’. Giant!
