Monstera deliciosa drooping after repot

Should I worry that my plant is drooping after I repotted it? I water it after it was transferred and I’m tempted to water it again (been about 4 days) but I don’t want to cause it more shock. How long should it droop? Any advice?

looks like it is sacrificing older lower leaves due to the extreme stresses of repotting ...

did you use per-moistened media ...

can you try to gently tie those leave upwards ... so the plant has time to pump water back into them while the roots recover ... on the olden days.. one might have suggested an old pair of nylons or something very soft and forgiving ...

you may eventually lose those leaves ... but the center and newer leaves look just fine ...

i cant really tell you how moist your media is.. so i dont know what to tell you about watering more ... does that pot drain?? ...

how did you come up with a certain number of days as your watering system .... and if you changed the media.. why would that still work???

It would help to raise humidity higher . its too large to tent, but put it in the shower after you shower (or run it with hot water for sev min to steam it up good). best to let it stay there overnight. if you can manage to do it for several days or a week - it should help to perk it up.

You don't have to water them in the shower LOL. I mean if it is convenient to do so it is fine, but you have to lug the plants into the shower, soak them well and then let them dry off so they don't drip all over your floors. I just pour water onto the soil surface when needed......wetting the entire surface and until it starts to drain through. How often will depend on conditions (humidity, temperature, how root bound the plant is, how big the plant is, etc.). I generally try to water in the morning so any excess is gone before evening....probably not as important for the Monstera but good practice with some succulents and plants that could rot easily if water sits on the stems too long. An occasional shower, or placed outside in a gentle warm rain, will keep dust off the broad leaves.

Yours is slightly larger than mine. Mine is my first and I got it at a nursery in early June. I really like it. To me, the marks on your leaves look like shipping damage from the leaves being bent too much. The younger leaves yellowing could be just from acclimation to your new environment. The leaves pulling out and the new leaves that appear to fall apart - I am not sure what that could be. It probably all began with the lack of drainage you mentioned. Fungus gnats love moist unventilated indoor soil. I used to have a lot inside in the winter and none now in the summer. Others on this board can give you some more help than me. I've had a few indoor plants that began dying in early Spring. Then when I placed them outdoors and in the ground they ALL perked up. My banana had several treatments of copper fungicide even after being planted in the ground. It's beginning to look nice. Back to my M. Deliciosa - I place it outdoors almost daily in dappled sun and never in the wind. It's doing well. No issues. I bring it in when windy or if rain is eminent. I also back off the water. I only water when I can detect dryness by sticking my finger 1" into the soil. It's hard for me to not water like I do other plants. But I know they have aerial roots in their natural habitat and climb up trees. So their roots are exposed to the air. Teracotta pots will dry out alot faster than ceramic or plastic pots. Perhaps the plant is not getting enough water for the roots and leaves and the actually root ball is not getting wet enough. The plant looks good to me but lack of water could make the leaves droop. Water, than wait 15 minutes and water again until it comes out of the drain hole, this will ensure the plant has enough water and help salts from accumulating from fertilizer and chemicals in water.

Yes green balls are fertilizer. you said no repots, so Im guessing plant is still in its original store soil. Those are usually way too water retentive. A lot of people on here either use Al’s 5-1-1 mix for tropical or soil mixed 50% w/ 50% sifted perlite or pumice. 5-1-1 has 5 parts pine or fir bark, 1 pt. Sifted, coarse-grade perlite & 1 part peat. The issue w/ your Monstera looks like bacterial leaf spot from too wet soil, but I could be mistaken.. others on here may be better at diagnosing. These grow under trees & climb their trunks like a vine in the wild, south of the equator. Your water & sun accommodations sound good, as long as you keep it where it’s at, that light would be similar to what it wants, which is part shade.

It’s a large plant and will take lots of water when established. provided it’s kept warm, of course(at least 75F).

i always tent my plants after transplant to decrease perspiration thru leaves.

Did you 'pot up' w/o much interaction with the root system, or actually 'repot', which includes bare-rooting, root pruning, and a complete change of the grow medium? It's not unusual for plants that were fully repotted to wilt for a day or so after you've completed the root work, especially if you neglected to keep the roots wet for the duration of the repotting session.

Repotting is stressful, but I'm not sure I would call the stress extreme. My take is, if it was so extreme, I would be seeing plants forfeit their viability at least here and there; but, I fully repot at least 200 plants per year and I can't remember the last plant I lost to the stress of repotting. I typically see fewer than 1/3 of the plants I repot present any symptoms of wilting, and the symptoms in those plants typically last only 2-3 days at most. BTW - I've never had to tent a plant after a repot, and I often remove up to 90% of the plant's root mass in a repotting session if the plant is healthy and I have a history of having cared for the species to which it belongs ..... but nothing wrong with being cautious, I suppose.
