What would you do with this space?

Our new home we close on soon. We’re not sure we want to put a dining table because we don’t really need the extra dining space and I also am not a huge fan of a dining table on top of carpeting. What other things could we do with this space? Thank you!

You can do a reading nook for coffee in the morning. And maybe eventually add a fireplace.

If you have young kids, make it a play area.

If working remote, make it an office space.

Or, like the above poster suggested, a reading space.

Looking for ideas...what would you do with this space? I’d like to create an inviting retreat to be used for playing games, visiting, eating, and relaxing. Looks like with the size of the dining table, we would need a 7x12 rug....not easy to find. I was thinking a tree in the corner with a beautiful basket or pot? Wall plants? I’d love to hear your ideas.

What would you do with this space (front foyer/hallway)? Need it more "adult" like, a simpler streamlined look/less cluttered and need proper storage (general and for shoes). Need a little space for hanging coats; seating is optional, not required. (Wall is 9 feet long, opposite the basement (door) and tiny utility closet (door). I'll post some pictures of ideas I've come up with - do any of these options work the best? if not, what are some other good ideas/options?

I like the settee in the lighter color & like the rug too. Maybe change the pillows to darker color. I also like the 2 prints on wall but maybe lower a smidge. They’re not too big. The bare look & feel might come from lack of hanging light & nothing on table top. Does this area need a light? Try a textured runner on table that complements rug - or a low long wooden bowl filled with objects pulling colors from rug. I like the plants in the corner too. Does anyone sit at this table to work puzzles or play board games? Kids doing homework?

We are not going to eat lined up like soliders since theres only 2 of us and we have a very larger dining room for company We worked with a designer at a local cabinet shop and at that time we were just going to leave it as an eat in area but just throwing ideas around to see if we could come up with another use of the space We also thought of a gathering/keeping room however we usually only have holidays at the house so it would go unused for most of the year Also, liking the idea of an additional island for storage and baking area Appreciate the ideas

An office/reading area. If you have young kids, a homework/computer area. Pick a purpose for it, and if it will attract clutter (office, homework) make sure you have plenty of closed storage since it is open to the rest of the house.

I love the reading/coffee area idea. We already have a loft for the kiddos upstairs and I also have a desk nook area which is all I need :) I’m loving the idea of a cocktail/coffee room with a low sitting table and 4 chairs with some sort of wood cabinet with built in wine rack. I need to measure to make sure I have the space first lol thank you all!

You have great lighting in that space, a coffee and reading area would look lovely. You can give the space a little color with a little dark shade of wood, as it is quite neutral.
