ANy Central New Yorkers here?
Comments (9)The lawn gurus here helped me redo my front lawn a few summers ago. The questions asked are as follows: What lawn do you have now? What do you like/dislike about it? Can you post a picture? What do you do now to care for it? Generally, Kentucky Blue Grass does very well here. The mix I have in my front lawn is Midnight, Moonlight and a third I can't recall right now. Mallory (Bestlawn) is the KBG expert around here, she recommended it. There may be an even better cultivar available now. I found it hard to get elite seeds without ordering online. My backyard is a fescue blend that I just reseeded Thursday (woo-hoo! rain!). I chose that because I have kids and a dog who would not be happy to be kept off the lawn for the length of time it takes KBG to germinate. I can be less fussy about that area, and gaze proundly at the front. The thing is, this is the time to seed. You would really have to shake a leg to get the seed and get it down before Labor day. You could always start now planning for next year if you aren't planning a total reno. Spot kill or weedhound weeds, water mow and fertilize properly, level any uneven parts of the yard. You may discover your current lawn is just fine. Good luck, and keep reading here. It's addictive and entertaining. Tracy...See Moreneed new fridge...help asap...please!!!
Comments (6)We recently bought a Frigidaire Gallery about that size but a bit shorter. Unlike most smaller refrigerators, it has glass (vs. wire) shelves and a split shelf so it can accommodate something really tall if needed. It also has adjustable shelves on the door and an adjustable shelf that spans the width of the freezer. Unfortunately, the Frigidaire web site doesn't show the interiors so we had to visit several stores. The features I mentioned were important to us, and we couldn't find another fridge to fit the wimpy dimensions we have unless we were to remove some cabinet trim. In a perfect world, we would have bigger crispers, but that would mean the compressor would be elsewhere. Where? Also, I wish the fridge were a bit quieter. The one we replaced was a smallish 6 year old GE bottom mount freezer which never got cold enough and was starting to give us problems. The freezer door would bounce open any time the fridge door was slammed....See MoreNeed help with backsplash ASAP! Vote or suggest a new one
Comments (36)Thank you @Flo Mangan and @Bethfor your suggestions. I think that wood extension is so unique - but I'm not sure if I could do it due to all the work it requires and I don't know if I 100% love it. We only have 21" from the edge of the counter to the door frame so I originally thought that it would be too tight a squeeze to have an overhang and be so close to the bedroom door. The idea of having a roll away table is a good idea or maybe just even putting a stool there? I want to say I would use the overhang - but I don't even know. I just would like more counter space when I'm cooking and preparing all of our meals. I took some (hopefully) better pics of the kitchen. Still looking for a kitchen light for the ceiling. I also didn't have the backsplash go all the way up to the ceiling b/c our building made us keep that barrier up (NYC regulations about smoke...) and I thought it might look strange to have the backsplash go all the way up and stop at the ceiling barrier. We have a lot of backsplash left over so I could do that if it looks weird where it stops and would be better going all the way up. Oh, ignore the bench at the kitchen entrance - that is to keep my 17 month old son out!...See MoreHelp!! I need a new hallway light ASAP
