New Island, new granite, need backsplash help!
Comments (17)OK...I just re-read what I wrote and I don't understand what I was trying to say :) Didn't have any coffee yet this morning... I think what I was trying to convey, is that in your space, you already have the contrast you're looking for with the black island and the black perimeter. You don't need to add a white BS to add *more* contrast. This is of course just my opinion looking at your pictures on a monitor. Your space is very warm and I see that you have some white in the eating area. I just think doing a whole BS white won't work. I agree with everyone's suggestion of putting white paper up to see how it would look. I did that when I was considering a dark countertop - I put black construction paper out and realized I didn't like the look. There are other tiles that are light but not cream. My google skills aren't the best today for some reason, but I have seen glass tiles that aren't super white. This one isn't the best example, but I found this color on glass tile oasis called "icicles" and from the picture it looks like a clear vs a white glass. I am having trouble embedding the picture. Maybe something like that would work. Here is a link that might be useful: Taos icicle glass tile....See MoreNeed Help Choosing Backsplash & Sink For New Venetian Gold Granit
Comments (7)Without seeing the slab it's hard to know for sure but here's one from Jeffrey Court's Antico Portugese line color Country Gray: These are kinda cool. I know nothing about the pricing. These are cement mosaic tiles by Villa Lagoon Tile. The colors are complements to Sherman Williams colors. I like the Pearl Gray below. It's a match to SW Mindful Gray. Last one for now, a more traditional 6x6 Italian Tile: This was from http://www.ceramic-tile4u.com/ . Budget tile too at $4.04 sq. ft. It was their Arpa Star tile in gray. That site has HUNDREDS of tiles to look at. May be WAY time consuming but worth a look. Good luck!...See MoreHelp! Backsplash is back ordered and need help picking new one!
Comments (7)If you like the backordered backsplash, just wait for it to come in. December isn't that far off. If you are worried your GC will be gone when the backordered backsplash comes in, don't worry about it. Either ask him to come back when the tile is in, and withhold some payment until the backsplash is complete, or, just hire a tile installer for the job when the tile comes in (look on Angie's List or Yelp). A tile installer will probably do a better job than your GC anyway, since he specializes in tile....See MoreDo I Need BackSplash? Help with Suggestions!
Comments (27)Posted by budgeteer_s (My Page) on Wed, Dec 31, 08 at 18:18 Thanks for all your suggestions. I wanted so much to follow with ci_lantro's suggestion because then I'm done. I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Correction: My tiles were Alfagres: Gema4x4: different from what caryscott posted: I loved what caryscott linked:...See MoreUser
