Arlosmom -- ?s about your powder room/corner kitchen cabinet
Comments (4)We have something similar to this in our house too, although it uses a blind corner created by a a bedroom closet instead of a kitchen corner. (The closet runs 2/3 of the wall, and then the last 1/3, rather than being a nook in the bedroom, is used by a built-in linen closet in our hallway so that we have full-depth drawers that are flush with the wall.) Ours was designed into our house when it was built (1915 so the cabinets are ancient) but is basically just a cabinet frame set into the wall and framed in with moulding, so I imagine it would be pretty easy to do something with a cabinet box. (I'm also embarrassed to admit that I lived in our house for maybe a year before I realized that's what was going on there, too!) I think it's a super ingenious way to use corner space! (Really wanted to do this in our dining room with our new kitchen blind corner, but got vetoed since we'd have to cut into the wainscoting. Ah, well.)...See MoreWhat hardware for our powder room vanity?
Comments (19)What about the bar pulls on the 4 larger drawers and a knob on the two smaller ones? It would cut your expenses, plus solve the dilemma of different size bars. I just looked for my inspiration pics on knobs/pulls for my bath remodel, but I must have deleted. With apologies for yet again posting pics of my vanity....this is what I did. Not exactly the same set up as yours, but you can at least see what I mean. The small drawers are just false fronts on really long drawers, just to visually break up that too long expanse....See Morematching kitchen cabinets with powder room wall?
Comments (3)It is not too repetitious to use Sea Salt, although it might be odd for your kitchen cabinets to be the color of your powder room wall. However, we really need to see the countertop and backsplash too. If you are having the cabinets professionally painted, that will be expensive ($7 to $9K gets quoted here often). Our local goddess of light (which is what I have decided to call one of our experts) will want to see the lighting too, and will have her recommendation. And others will want to see the whole layout. If you're going to spend $7 to $9K, you should consider whether the whole layout even works for you. You'll just have to test BM Creamy White to see if you like it. Buy a can and paint it on some foamboard. Move it around the kitchen (wherever the cabinets are) and see what you think....See MoreDesign help for over-the-toilet cabinet for powder room
Comments (17)@tfitz1006 Did you mean closet, and not shower? We use the closet for jackets, shoes, backpacks, etc. It's a powder bathroom, so no shower at all. You can see the powder room here. The top side is the staircase along the full length. The right side is the garage. The bottom side is the hallway running from the garage to the foyer. The left side is the main floor closet which is tiny because I'm pretty sure there is a wet wall with plumbing behind it where the hot water pipes run from the water heater into the slab for the kitchen plumbing. The powder room is completely boxed in. About the only thing you could do is a small built-in lower cabinet that goes into the slanted area under the stairs, but because the doorway is only 2' and so cramped, it would be more difficult to access, and it allows us to store larger items out of the way in the garage. Given how hard it would be to bend over to access it in the cramped space, this would not be worth the money it would cost. We chose to put our money into the master bathroom and kitchen instead, but this was sort of rolled into it when we learned the kitchen flooring had an issue mid-remodel, and had to pick a floor tile that worked with our old tile, which we weren't going to replace because it covered so much area, including the bathroom. We replaced all of the old tile that was connected with new tile, but we had planned to do the powder room at later date until that necessitated removing the toilet and sink anyway... Got to love the snowballing of a remodel, right?...See Moreeverdebz
