I would delete the email account in the app and try setting it up again. Are you using the stock LG mail app on the phone or something else? What ever you are using could try a different app and see what happens. Never used outlook so have no clue. Mary

Thanks Mary. I’m using the Blue Mail app on my LG phone. I did have to delete and reinstall a few apps on my phone several weeks ago when they got ”wonky”. I’ve just never had this happen to Outlook before.

I occasionally -- for no apparent reason -- get a prompt on my iPad or iPhone to re-enter my email password. If I don't do it, I can still read emails, but sent emails fail with no indication this has happened. If I log out and then log back in, it fixes the problem.

I’ve deleted Blue Mail, restarted my phone, downloaded and installed BW at least 6 separate times. The app closed each time when attempting to set up my account. Does anyone have a recommendation for another mail app for a Pop3 account? TIA

Have you tried the stock LG app that comes on the phone? Pretty sure they usually do pop 3. I switched to Samsung but always used the LG stock app and had no issues. Another thing is you could contact the app developer about blue mail. Contact info should be on the Google app page. Seems to be mixed reviews on how great that app is but I never used it. What model LG phone? Is the phone fully updated? Did this start maybe after a recent android update? Sometimes those pesky android updates can cause issues until they release another update to fix it. I use a samsung note 10 plus and just got an android update June 9th and so far no issues. Also what mail server? Gmail and yahoo ha their own app. I can say Gmail app works nice. AOL also has a mail app but I prefer the sam stock app for my AOL mail. Mary

Is there an Outlook App for Android? Generic mail apps that come with a phone and other generic ones not tailored to the specific mail service tend to have more problems.

If there's an Outlook one, I'll bet it will work fine.

What ever mail apps there are for android would be in the google store so search around. I used LG'a mail app for many years with 4 mail servers and never any issues. Worked fine with AOL,Gmail, yahoo and roadrunner. Was easy to use and did all I needed. Now I use Samsung'a stock app with the same 4 mail servers and works great. Will be a year in August I had my note 10 plus and not one mail issues with those servers on their stock app. In fact I like it better than LG now. Our last LG g6 phones had charging port issues and I got tired of it and since LG will no longer be in the phone business anymore upgraded to Samsung and so glad I did. Search the Google store and read reviews on the different mail apps and try them out is all you can do. If you really liked blue mail contact the developer and see why it keeps crashing. As I said a recent android update could be causing it but if your phone is very old and past the update stage then that could be why also. Hope you find something.

Thanks to all for the comments. My phone is a G6. I’ll pick a different mail app to try today. Any ideas on why my desktop Outlook app experiencing the same problem? I’ve used Outlook for my desktop mail since 1998.

I only use mobile email so no clue on outlook. Delete and set it up again is all you can try.

I only access my Hotmail account via the Outlook web site, not the program. As an experiment, you might just try logging in to Outlook via your web browser, rather than the desktop, and see if it functions properly or not. This could help determine if the account itself is messed up, or is dependent on how you access your email.

Post back when you figure out what's causing it.

I tried setting up Gmail as my mail app. it stopped during set up just like Blue Mail had. That would seem to indicate the problem might be with the phone. But, this doesn’t explain why Outlook isn’t sending my on my desktop. I’m going to try a 3rd mail app on my phone and see if it stops as well.

Is SSL enabled on both your phone and desktop? And SMTP authentication (log-in) on both for sending?, mail services pretty much all require it nowadays. Sometimes the server host names are different for SSL vs. non-SSL. I hate Outlook, refuse / have never used it. Thunderbird is my choice for many years on desktop. I don't do mail on mobile devices as normal course. Have one work address set up on it (iPhone) if needed when away from the desktop, using iOS native app.

The outgoing port for my desktop Outlook worked when I changed it from ”25” to ”587”. I noted the difference when comparing the account info on my IPad with the PC. Not sure why there was a difference because both accounts have been working well and I don’t fiddle around with settings if things are working.

Re: LG mail accounts, Both Blue Mail and Google Mail stop working after install, when attempting to set up a new account. Tried Outlook on the phone and it will install and receive but not send mail. I’m working on this. Stay tuned.

Port 25 was the long-time standard for SMTP but many ISPs and services block it as a defense against viruses and malware spewing spam and infections via 25 on an infected computer. 587 is the alternate nowadays. 465 is common when SSL is enabled. Some servers may use other ports specific to their service.

Sounds like you don't have the servers right for your mail app on the phone. If you don't have the settings exactly correct when setting it up in any mail app this can happen. The most common mail like AOL, yahoo and Gmail I have never had to really set them up as I pick them from the list and the mail app automatically sets it up and I just have to give my user name and password.

@dadoes, my email account is with Earthlink. Do you think they made this port change on Thursday, when this all started, and my IPad automatically updated this info while my desktop Outlook did not? I’m using MS Office 2010. That’s all I can come up with.

I would contact them and see if they changed their settings.
