Building a Home Design Dilemma

Can someone help me figure out the dimensions for a metal seam roof

I am building a tiny home that is 28' x 10' with 3 degrees of angle. I am trying to figure out if the dimensions the guy at the roofing company gave me are correct (I have attached them here). I would like 6 inches of hang just to be safe. He is also wanting to know what the pitch for the trim would be and Im not sure how to figure that out. Any help would be much appreciated.

What do you think may be incorrect? He is saying you need to buy 8 pcs 16" x 30'-0" (320 sq ft total) to cover your 28'-0" x 10'-0" slightly pitched roof (280 sq ft in total plus the slope which is minimal). Yes that is the correct amount of roofing. This will need to be cut and lapped.

6” of overhang is insufficient almost anywhere. Roof overhang is a big deal in home design. It contributes to a more energy efficient home, and more weather protected one as well.

PS: I forgot to say that you should definitely phone or email Paula (citygirlinthecountry) to see what she has - she keeps a big warehouse full of vintage sinks and tubs she doesn't necessarily list on eBay. The advantage with Paula is that she knows what kind of damage is reparable and what kind means the sink might become unusable in a while. Other than that, you are likely to get a better deal straight off eBay on these types of items than at a salvage place, although the commercial yards may well have the best selection. Here's a decent one, for instance, for only $150. And check out this gorgeous beauty for $600/$1000. I adore vintage kitchen fixtures, and really don't think you can go wrong incorporating one of these into your design. Happy hunting! Thanks to everyone for helping me figure this out! And cawaps -- I didn't know about the control+ trick ---. I was marveling over it and my kids just rolled their eyes at me. And Amy -- I googled Sarah Richardson marble backsplash and came up with one kitchen repeated in several sites, but not this kitchen -- thanks for finding those others. I really like this backsplash design. I didn't know that you could get the marble in such large tiles, but since people use it as flooring, guess it comes in many sizes. Thanks!!

Thanks arielitas_mom! yes,my plan is to make a nice, big, luxurious tiled shower along the same wall that the corner shower is now. Probably about 39" w x 6 feet long (unless that's TOO long...). I do feel like this is a compromise, since a 3BR/2BA (and lts face it, most people will use it as 2BR/2BA/office) feels like it's step down, as far as the target market, from the 3BR/3BA/office we'd planned when we bought it. But it's good to hear some positive feedback from you folks about the compromise, because it really would stretch us too far to do the addition. Thank you! So what do you all think about the fact that there's no proper dining room? The DR area is really more of a dining "nook" and there's no place to put a really big dining table. ?????

and Zahner Zinc could possibly stamp out some custom metal roofing if your roof pitch is steep enough. Or a decent sheet metal shop can bend up sheets of aluminum and do flat lock similar to millenium but in larger pieces. It's hard to get good installation with metal. They like to use a lot of caulk joints, which defeats the purpose The aluminum standing seam they keep telling you're thinking of is "Galvalume" style which is steel electro plated with aluminum somehow. Galvalume is still "ferrous" and would rot by the ocean if it found a good galvanitic reaction with something. What you meant in your title was "non-ferrous" . If you have a roof made from stainless or a non-ferrous metals like zinc, copper, aluminum, and it looks correct to someone who knows, there is no guessing as to how long it will last undisturbed.

Good point by The Cook's Kitchen as I missed that for sure. Typical eaves are definitely larger than 6".

The minimum slope for that roofing is 3:12, or 14%. IT WILL LEAK!

The low pitch is a concern if the panels are not continuous along the long dimension of the roof. Our roofing contractor custom fabricates standing seam roof panels on site to any length from coil stock. I think you'll be well served to find a contractor who will do the same for your project. Make sure the standing seams are mechanically seamed.
