What type of brick/stone should we use for our retaining wall/bench?
Comments (3)I like a brick color with a grey stone. Around here that typically means granite for the stone since it is supplied locally, but a bluestone or a gray cement would work well. Just make sure that it works well color-wise with your red and gray pavers as well as with the house color. I would only use two masonry materials in such a small space, though if you want your fire pit to be a freestanding metal piece, I don’t think that will be a conflict....See MoreVinyl siding, do we add brick or stone or stucco.
Comments (18)Taking the siding to the ground might not be the best idea, My husband put a coating on ours (think it was called Fibercrete) that made it look more like poured concrete that block. Then we just left it the concrete color. If your ambitious and in a cold climate, it is possible to add rigid foam insulation the the exterior of the block... https://www.familyhandyman.com/walls/foundation-insulation-panels/view-all/...See MoreWhat Color Should I Paint My Stucco 1940's House?
Comments (7)Im trying to think of a way to say that "beachy" is a bit incongruous in a desert location. Seriously, how "beachy" color schemes - that whole blue-white-gray thing -c ame about was from taking inspiration from the coastal landscape, how the earth and sky looks from that part of the world. Similarly desert has its own esthetic sensibility - inspiration taken from the landscape. I happened to get email about this new collection the other day - cant say that any of these would fit with your location (and roof color) = just posting it to show how color is often inspired by and taken from the natural environment: https://www.farrow-ball.com/en-us/california-collection...See MoreWhat color would you use?
