Weekend Quiz: The Extent of Cheese

Have you ever wondered at the, er, stretched definition of "grilled cheese" or "quesadilla"? How much cheese does it have to have to be a grilled cheese? How many additions can it have and still be a quesadilla? There's a Mexican version of the croque monsieur made in sandwich grill-tongs with about equal amounts of ham and cheese. I've always thought of it as a ham and cheese sandwich that has been grilled, not "grilled cheese". A diner kind of place I know makes plate sized quesadillas stuffed full of vegetables and mushrooms, but has a sufficient amount of cheese to make the name quesadillas reasonable, though it's like six times bigger than a "real" quesadilla, and not Mexican at all.

Where's the line? At what point does it stop being a cheese sandwich and start being a sandwich with cheese?
