Without seeing the whole house we can’t suggest colors. Do you want it to be the same color it is now just lighter? What about an entirely different color? Have you seen a house color you like?

LRV, refers to how light or dark a paint colour will look on a scale of 0 (black) to 100 (white). The higher the LRV number is, the lighter the colour is. The lower the LRV number is – the darker the colour is.

This is my understanding of what LRV can do with colors. I don’t mix paints. :>}

Add to that that all colors have their unique undertones…so the LVR of 8 does have to do with where is stands 0-100. It isn’t telling you about the undertone. It could be a gray undertone, or a pink undertone.

Here is a B.M. brown, Stardust, with LRV of 23.

It’s undertone is slightly grayed. That gray is making Stardust a lighter brown.

Heres the front of the house, it’s hard to see with the maple trees.

Im open to other colors than brown/greige, but I do want something lighter. The siding gets so hot in the summer sun (and we live in central NY)

Most of the houses I’ve liked are similar to the second color judianna posted; we have the wide cedar shingles with machined grooves that I’ve never seen a color on that type of siding I like. (The window trim has to stay white, they are vinyl clad)

The dimension of color you're talking about here is Chroma. Low Chroma colors are weak. High Chroma color are strong. Strong colors have enough colorfulness that it's unlikely they will look washed out.

The reason LRV is the wrong number to look at in this case is because LRV has one job.

It tells you how much light a color reflects. That's it. That's all it does.

Value tells you how that quantity of LRV looks - because that's the job Value does.

For example, LRV doesn't convey anything about "depth" or how white a color looks - those are the two most common ways people get LRV wrong.

Is an LRV range of 25-35 noticeably lighter?

Yes. Lighter and brighter because it reflects more light.

Lori, reflecting light is not all the information LRV imparts. The higher the LRV, the purer the color.

For instance, B.M. Chantilly Lace is one of the whitest whites. With an LRV of 92, it virtually has no undertone at all. So, yes, the LVR does convey "depth" or how white a color looks.

Another example. If it were true that LRV was an indicator of how white a color looks then Cotton Balls would have a higher LRV. It doesn't.
