window coverings for Master Bedroom

Any help is appreciated for my dilemma!
My home is a craftsman mountain home. I want to put window coverings on top windows to ensure that my husband and I can have a dark room at night. Currently the window coverings for seven windows are draperies but the three upper windows have nothing and the moonlight shines in brightly often. I’m considering plantation shutters and/or roller Shades.
Questions/issues:

  1. Would it be appropriate if I had shutters on the lower windows but motorized roller shades on the top three windows? The sales person from budget blinds said that the shades would have to be outside mounted as they could not go in the inside of these windows because the windows are too small.
  2. If I should be consistent with choosing to go with either all shutters or all roller shades, which would you go with in this style of home and what color?
  3. If shutters, what size, and faux or wooden? I have heard that wooden shutters need more maintenance and can bow over time.
    THANK YOU!
