The rose you rescued looks suspiciously like 'Dr Huey' to me. If so, the rose that was originally planted was undoubtedly a different variety that was grafted onto 'Dr Huey' rootstock. If that's the case, the original rose failed to survive the neglect & the rootstock took over. If the rose is free of thorns (or has very few), and if it is producing long cains (like a climber -- which, from the photo, appears to be the case), then you can be fairly certain that your 'Annie' is indeed 'Dr Huey'. My very first post to this forum was about a rose that I "rescued" - a shred of it had been left behind when the plant had been dug up by someone else. I potted up my shred, and it grew and gave me a couple of heartbreakingly beautiful blooms that looked just like yours - except your rose looks even more beautiful!! Mine turned out to be Dr. Huey, but the rootstock thing didn't bother me - I loved it - but the information that it would get much bigger (I had nowhere to plant it) made me give it away. Judging from your lovely photos, yours not only has GORGEOUS flowers in the most delectable dark red, but it also has beautiful clean foliage. I say, keep it and enjoy!!! Laura

the second rose is about 4 ft tall, same age, own root. I think it might be Elegant Fairytale. It blooms in sprays, is a lighter pink, the flowers are about 4 inch diameter fully opened and the buds are pale pink to almost white before opening. It also has no discernible scent.
