Comments (16)You have beautiful bushes, Socks! At one time I had thirty tea roses in a big bed under our family room windows. First the deer came; they just love rose buds. I countered with pieces of Irish Spring bar soap impaled on stakes just the same height as the roses. Then a nursery near our home evidently imported some stock with Japanese Beetles. I was out there pickin' and pickin'. Then came a couple of hot, damp summers and mildew that would have require constant spraying. I gave up! When my mother's leukemia was sill just a 'blood disorder', she needed regular visits with a hematologist. The receptionist always had huge, perfect roses in a vase on her desk. (Guess why her roses did so well...)...See MoreA couple of first blooms

Then, my MIL had roses, and I loved her Mr Lincoln. When the mood hit me to get a Mr Lincoln, after we bought our first house, the nursery I was at didn't have one, but he had an Oklahoma. My teeny tiny lot is up to 17 plants now. So much fun; so addictive!Golden Celebration is happy where it is, 2 years post planting. Distant Drums is mere months post planting, and I can't wait to see it mature! Melinda...See MoreBare root roses bloom in first year?

You’re right, I’m loving seeing all the different coloured foliage on all the roses. Every single rose is different in leaf colour. Beautiful. I spotted my first rose buds last week on Rosa rugosa and a climber that I’m not sure of it’s name. Here’s hoping it’s a great summer of blooms for us all. D xx...See MoreMasLovesRoses_z8a GA
