Can we see the plan or better yet the space. I do not like sconces anywhere and why not a nice bath bar light above the mirror in LEDs 4000K that will light the space and whatever you are doing at the vanity.

Search on Houzz photos and you will see plenty of sconces mounted through a large mirror. The narrow bar sconces can be placed vertical or horizontal, your choice if you like light source on the sides or above. You just need to coordinate with your electrician and mirror/glass installer to end up with the correct result.

For this type of installation, I think you're better off having a custom mirror made by a local glass contractor. You'll have to have the sconce j-boxes installed prior to the glass guy doing an onsite measure, then they can make cut-outs for the j-boxes. If you like, you can have your contractor's finish carpenter make a frame for you to install after the glass goes in.

And no, it's not a dated look. I'm doing this for two new bathrooms in the same home as we speak.

^^ what Sabrina said -- just takes some good coordination between carpenter, glass place and electrician. (Check with electrician first to make sure wiring is feasible, then carpenter, then glass place.) I like that look, too, for tiny spaces it's a lifesaver and brings the light much closer without sacrificing mirror space.
