This looks similar to what my "Day 2" hair does when I don't straighten it. For my hair to hold this body, it cannot be newly washed. If I wash it the night before, put product in it, and sleep in a bun, it would look similar to this. That middle part might require layers on your hair, but I'm not sure.

Feathers, she has a side part which is what I have. I also wash and style my hair the day before I go anywhere. Day two hair is the best, imo.

GS, I can do the waves like April's but she doesn't have the usual waves that are popular and begin much higher up.

Does she have long layers blended in that make it look more fluffy?

Or is it because she has a hair dresser who does her hair the minute before filming starts?

I have spent hours and hours watching YouTube hairstyling videos. There are so many different ones. There's one out there that will help.

Does she have extensions that are fluffing the middle section?

I agree with gsciencechick. wrap the hair around the barrel. if you use a tapered wand, then the curls will start out bigger and get tighter as they get to the end. you get a completely different type of wave compared to using a traditional hot roller or curling iron with a clamp.

for either of these methods, the less time you spend, the looser the curl will be.

I think I figured it out but let me begin again. She does not have the waves where you begin at the top and go down to the bottom. Her waves are only at the bottom half. I do that to my hair all the time.

Anyone here close to my age...103? :) I've noticed in still pictures when an actress is getting her hair done the stylist had those large rollers at the top. That's what we did in high school which gave the fluff in the middle and a bit of curl at the bottom.

Large velcro rollers at the top might do the trick. The curls will loosen because of the length of hair.

Yaya, that's a great video, thank you! I thought about teasing but with my light hair and it not being as thick as it used to be, I figured I'd make a mess. When he first started teasing the hair I knew she'd have a big helmut head, lol, but it's perfect. I never thought of teasing the bottom part of the hair.

G, I'm ordering those large velcro rollers. :) Was your hair wet or dry using the rollers?

Oakley, it’s been so long since before the pandemic, I don’t remember for sure! On my list of things to do after I’m fully vaccinated—WHICH IS VERY SOON. I think they would dry my hair a bit to get the water out and then use the Velcro rollers for the styling so damp is probably my answer. But I want them to try the waves now that my hair is longer to see how it turns out. I’ve always had them just blow it straight.

Oakley check out my style from Drybar today. She dried my hair with clips like pin curls then used the curling iron vertically to wrap the hair around it. Also make sure you are wrapping the hair AWAY from the face. Since this was a trainee (free session!), the supervisor was giving her the pointers.
