It sure looks interesting enough. To reply to some of your specific Q's: 1) Some dirt always gets in somehow so no big deal for me as long as isn't pails and pails of dirt. 2) I use tumblers both batch and continuous. At some point in the continuous feed you will have to stop adding and let it work so one has to think about what to do with their material when that happens. Some go with a second bin and I am sure there are many more options. Doing it as a batch can also be problematic if you don't have an alternative system while the tumbler is doing its' thing. And collecting all the materials to fill can be a pain with storage and what not. I use multiple tumblers so some can be allowed to do their thing whilst I fill another. 3) I don't use much paper other than coffee filters and the odd paper towel so I can't help you with that one. 4) Air is critical and be aware of the moisture content. It isn't hard to make mistakes but they are usually correctable and they are usually not too serious. I've goofed up a few times and just made some adjustments on the next batch. crsliz, I think there are as many ways people store their Cannas as there are Cannas. I grow most of mine in pots and I bring the pots and all in to the basement after the frost takes the leaves down. I give the soil a good washing with the hose. The Temp in the basement is between 50 -60 degrees. There is very little light. I water my pots about a 8 oz glass of water once a month, Just enough so they do not dry out. They start to sprout in March and I usually can put a good size growing plant outside at the end of May. You have to experiment and see what works for you. I just do not have time to dig up plants so any tender plants I grow are grown in pots and are used on the Patio, and Deck.

Always do what mom says!!! :-) It's fully applicable to your #2 and #3. #1. Yes, you could cut off old spent blooms. In responce plant may or may not produce new ones. It's somewhat late in a season for ES to produce brand new blooms if buds had not been formed already, but it may do so if it receive enough sun during the Aug and Sept...and warm weather in the fall will stay long enough for you to enjoy them. In New England you never know...sometimes I still have fresh blooms in October :-)

Very nice project....definitely like the flow of the colored glass at the top and bottom....really draws the eye along. With regard to cutting, if you're wanting to cut an intricate shape it'll take a glass saw as far as I know. Glass simply can't make sharp turns in a single stroke from a hand cutter - it prefers to break along a somewhat straight line. I don't have a glass saw, but fron what I have picked up reading the "adventures" of those who do, a glass saw can follow more intricate patterns, and it separates the pieces as you go. WIth a hand cutter, you're scoring and breaking as opposed to actually cutting thru it. I know what I am trying to say, but don't think I am saying it clearly enough....There are several good tutorials on glass cutting that have been mentioned here at various times, but (of course!!) I can't put my finger on one right now. Anyone have one of these clipped?? HTH, Pat
