Old PC, monitor blank
Comments (11)One of my old computers, that has no case cover on it... i always have to reset one of the cards that has come loose from flexing the case while moving it around, or one of the hard drive cable connectors has loosened or pop the CMOS battery in and out before it will boot the first time after a long hiatus. There's always something that fixes it that you usually can't tell what it was. Its the win 98 original edition that has had many motherboard/cpu combo's in it.. last one was AMD 450, I think. Actually for browsing and downloading its just as fast as anything,, maybe faster as it has an expensive video card(for its day) and nice fast hard drive. Web pages/graphics paint instantly....See MoreMonitor PC decisions
Comments (14)I'm so glad to have more input.. I'm not alone. I must believe that if my iPad and iPhone are working that the PC works. Yes? I would like to buy a monitor about 23 inches. One that will work with Win 7 and Win 8. I looked at PC Mag and their top ten that can be bought at Amazon are very expensive - 1,000. Funny on Amazon the ones w/4 + stars have many in my price range of $200-300. If my computer works I can use I Cloud and Picasso to store docs and graphics. Yes? Then if my current PC dies I can still pick up my saved files off the PC on a new machine Yes? My Azus PC came with 10 USB ports. . 5 are in the front. All but 1 are dead. The computer was a Best Buy recommendation and a terrible catastrophe before it left the store. It was replaced with another Azuz and with help from Landzdown and here it at least runs. Before I reinstall, Owbitz, I need a monitor. Mine now is a simple Samsung 19 inches. I read that when Win 8 becomes mandatory we will want a touch screen monitor which sounds utterly tiring. I can also look on YouTube and google to see what I can find on flying library repair. EmmaR - it was your advice to use my desktop for files and I have been afloat because of that. I will start a new post asking for recommendations. If you have more insight for me, I will look back here. I have a few questions I asked above concerning I Cloud and Picasso or Photobucket. Thank you so much Thank you for your patience and sharing....See MoreMonitor problem
Comments (13)Update: I think my problems have been solved/resolved. I did a google search for my particular monitor asking for info on a monitor that wouldn't shut down. Here was the help I got for that: 1 press menu button 2 hit + to get to "factory reset" 3 hit menu button again 4 hit + to get to "all settings" (NOT "factory") 5 hit menu button again I did this, then shutdown. It did the shutdown correctly. However, the colors remained pale. I unplugged the monitor and gave it a slot of its own. Re-ran the following 5 steps and the color is now normal. I had tried playing with the buttons before but apparently it needed a precise sequence. My son cleaned the tower out (said it was practically clean as a whistle inside) and moved it on top of my desk where it's fairly easy get to the back of the tower. He also left his spare monitor here, just in case. I'm a happy camper and want to thank each and every one of you for your help and suggestions. Shirley...See MoreSamsung PC/TV monitor
Comments (2)We have that very setup with a 26" Samsung and love it! Nothing quite like looking at a spreadsheet on a 26" HD screen. Recommend keeping the brightness turned way down. Did have one issue though. For the 1st 10 months only used as monitor and some DVD's. No problem. When I finally ran a TV cable to that room the TV would randomly turn off and back on immediately all by itself. Was told by Samsung that my in-home warranty was a missprint and I would have to mail the TV to them. I was gearing up for a battle but Best Buy said that they would fix it in-home and deal with Samsung. It's been great ever since....See More- 3 years ago
