grey quartz or black granite kitchen countertops?
Comments (4)I really think this is personal preference. I love quartz. I think it is modern and sleek and love its uniform and unfussy look. I also like the grey you chose to go with the white cabinets. There has to be something that made you fall in love with it in the first place? The 2 looks will be really different. Black countertops on white cabinets has a lot of contrast whereas the quartz you picked has a more blending feel. I agree with bahacca and try to get samples in your space and maybe go look at the black granites at the granite yard with your cabinet door to see them together....See MoreWhite kitchen- Blk Hardware w/ Dark Grey Quartz Counter tops?

Comments (16)we have leathered (honed?) absolute black perimeters and in each of the three bathrooms the island is butcher block and we love it no fingerprints, stuff (crumbs, flour etc) does show but clean up is easy and looks great i've had a very high end granite with lots of movement and i don't clean up any more now than i did then and i disliked it a lot......i wouldn't choose a "shiny" finish for the island but i'm not going to say it wouldn't be attractive... bil has absolute black (shiny) and it is difficult to keep looking nice......See MoreBlack matte countertop options
Comments (11)I have honed Steel Gray granite. Love it! I don't see fingerprints or have any of the issues people report having with honed Absolute Black granite. I haven's seen any reports of similar problems with leathered AB so that's definitely the better choice of the two. DH and I looked at several leathered black/dark gray stones. Cambrian Black is really nice and a blacker stone than Steel Gray. Ditto for Black Pearl in a leathered or honed finish. Dark stones are very dense so are generally considered bullet proof. We also considered honed quartz but, as barncatz posted, people reported issues with honed quartz (wasn't as stain resistant, showed finger prints). No idea if that's still the case. Pentalquartz has a softer appearance than other quartz brands so we considered one of their choices but in the end, DH and I liked honed Steel Gray the best. We had it sealed (DuPont 15 yr sealer) but an unsealed sample was very stain resistant during my testing. We did not want a solid looking black stone so our choice may not be right for you but we're very happy with it....See Moretsjmjh
