Hi Everyone, Thank you, you are all very kind. It is a truly ecclectic mix, but that was sort of my signature style in design, "relaxed formality". Old and new. Inherited and acquired. Reclaimed and restored. Found and fixed. We ALL have it in us, just find what makes you comfortable. And yes, my place is heavy on mirrors (and I missed a few!). Since I need to retake the DR photos tomorrow when it is light out I'll try to get the BR and one other mirror. igloochic, are my kitties out of place? If so, I will send them with the desk. But my babies being Persian, then I need to send you the Persian carpets (there are three, room-sized) that they go with. And if I send those ... LOL! L, We are using an old oak kitchen table in the dining room. It is impossible to entertain with. We shipped our stuff here before we even had a place to live and opted for a small table which will go in the kitchen in the Victorian house. I will buy a mahogany DT (or maybe a 10' farm table or something of the sort) at auction when I return to the states. I have a great gold-tan and sage green silk set with tons of pillows and a full canopy in the bedroom. The problem is the bedroom is TINY and it is near impossible to get a good angle but maybe I'll try again this tomorrow. Again, thank you all. B

Seems from the pics that the cabinets have a slightly pinkish cast -- is this accurate, or is it the pics? If it is the pinkish cast, I'd consider painting them, though I know that would be expensive or rather difficult (if you DIY). Agree on changing the hardware -- easy, nice fix. I think once you swap out the counter, it will make a big difference. If the home is historical, you may want a backsplash and overall look that is in keeping with the style/age of the home, but that's a very personal choice. Subway tile could look great, I'd think. I'm not familiar with BM, but SW Misty is a lovely silvery blue, most silver with just a hint of blue. The next darker color, Samovar Silver is also nice. If you want a bit more blue, SW Krypton is very nice for a bedroom color. We have Krypton in our bedroom and I love it. You might just want to check out those colors and if you like them, you could have BM mix them for you.

Well, if it helps, we are a family of four (children 13 and 15) with a 36" builtin and it is more than enough space. We don't keep any beer and sodas though (red wine needs no frig and I encourage the kids to drive water :). Because it is shallower and so bright and open we no longer have the problem of "losing" things in the back. (Just the problem of husband looking at something and saying "this should be thrown out" and then leaving it there).
