Hi lynne, Are these your first brugs? If so, I would go ahead and repot them all seperately for now. Let them get some size on them and see if they all grow at about the same rates individually before trying to braid them or grow them all in the same pot. Braiding is fun but if these are your first brugs then you will have better results with individual plants while you are learning. If you need any help repotting etc. please feel free to email me at sultry_jasmine_nights@yahoo.com For braiding you would need vigorous straight suckers from the mother plants anyhow, that did not come from above the Y. So if you wait you can get some off your individual plants later to braid. ~SJN

You have a decent little clump right there, hope the flower is a nice one. Had to look up its parents, seems like it should look good. Some of my seedlings are really monsterous, but I saw them bloom last year. They wasn't a dog in the bunch, although the 1st bloom on a couple weren't much to look at. Last year they just looked like other daylilies out there, & siblings looked very similar to each other. Maybe they will change a little this year. This year I plan on keeping track of how much they bloom, rebloom, etc & will get rid of those that don't do that great. Seeing your seedlings bloom is so much fun!

Hi everyone. Thanks for the help. Still have no clue what this is. Ah yes, important to mention that these things, whatever they are, are completely stagnant and unmoving. Otherwise I wouldn't take my sweet time to take pictures, they'd be in a few layers of plastic bags, stomped on, and promptly eradicated (sunflower included)! :P Here are the macros: These photos are in no particular order. See how they are somewhat porous?? Never have seen anything like it. As for the sunflower--I planted it in the last few days of February when we had around 3 feet of snow and I was begging for some early springtime. We've had record-breaking weather this year. I don't think it's a good time to put it outside yet--I'll do that in a week or so, or whenever I know the soil is above 60 degrees. That's why it's in such a large plastic jug that I can just cut away when it's time to plant it.

This is not going to be a forced labor camp though, just sticking some plants in the dirt and maybe raking some leaves and debris. "Yard work" is likely to consist of picking up some dead branches that fell... I'm trying to dig up a tiller to get some planting beds and rows of stuff in the ground. I have grand plans but I'm limited by the lack of a tiller. We have about a 1 acre parcel along Summer Ave that I'd like to get some fig tress at least along the frontage and elderberry and black currant bushes installed lining the culvert.. Sadly my elder cuttings are doing very poorly right now. Went to FL for a week and moved all my cuttings outside. Grapevines are pushing buds and figs are rooting but the once fabulous elderberries are looking pretty bad, may even loose them ;-( Here is a link that might be useful: Map of grounds and planned plantings
