Oh, a maid. Or rather, housekeeper. This may be the year I look into getting some help, even someone who came in to do floors a couple of times a month would be great. Too many square feet of floor in this house when I'd rather be doing something else.

Hi Glenda, it's so good to 'see' you!

Hi Glenda! I'd like a maid to do the things I hate. Lol. I don't mind the day to day or weekly stuff. It's the more labor intensive things I'd love help with. But I'd probably pick a gardener. Because I'd love a beautiful yard, but I'm terrible at it. Everything dies.

I'd like a housekeeper. I haven't heard the term maid said in many, many years where I live. Maybe cleaning lady has replaced it.

Maid (or as maggie says, housekeeper) once every two weeks for sweeping all floors and dusting all surfaces.

If I had a gardener, I'd be following him/her around the whole time and wouldn't really get any rest. Altho someone to pull weeds would be great.

A gardener. A real one who continually maintains and updates the landscape as needed, not one of those mow and blow guys who call themselves gardeners.

None of those things....since I can do and enjoy doing all of those myself, and I hate having other people underfoot. Had my helper here for two days and nights...there is a bed in the office and he slept there...and was so glad when he was gone. He's a good worker and fixed a lot of fence, but if I am around, he never shuts up. A lot of drama in his family. None in mine and it is difficult for me to feign interest in someone else's. Plus his girlfriend had already texted the details to me. Wore me out. I spent most of yesterday in bed.

Instead of a gardener, I could use a FREE landscaper! ♥ Herringbone paver pathways, wrought iron enclosure, sprinkler system....maybe a waterfall-pond feature. Yeah Baby....!

Boy I could have used a nanny when my DD was little - all the way until jr. high - childcare was so difficult to find, and expensive for those 12 hour shifts and weekends! Could have used a maid also.

Now, a once a week housecleaner would be nice.

For me, definitely a maid. If I was choosing for DH it would be gardener/ landscaper. We have sooooo much to mow and weed whack and I can't do it. My allergies are just too severe.

Great to see you posting Glenda!

I'd take the maid to help with VgQn's indoor chores, and as for a gardener I've just have them mow the lawn and do the weed eating, the rest I enjoy doing myself.

None of the above, I would like a handyman on call. For all those things that come up such as something too heavy to lift, or too high for me to climb, or minor plumbing, replacing a small pane of glass, replacing a rotted section of wood, etc.

so yeah, a cook/chef would be divine!!

A gardener/landscaper, as that is what takes the most time. I prefer to enjoy the garden rather than work in it.

My friends in Mexico City had a maid, a cook, and a gardener, and the cook did the grocery shopping.

What I would really like is a Yeona's helper. I enjoy cooking but would like a sous chef to help me. I enjoy a gardening but sometimes I need an extra pair of hands and digging doesn't always go well when I do it.

Cleaning goes much more quickly and is wonderful when you're conversing with someone so I would love someone to help with that too. I would love someone to divide up with to do the grocery shopping.

Plus have someone to walk the dogs with.

I would love someone to help me clean my kitchen every night.

I want to do all these things but I always think oh I wish I had someone with me to make it go quicker and be more interesting. Of course there's no such thing.

Gardener. Just can't walk enough to do much and it's looking kind of shaggy this year.

Marilyn C, that sounds like my painter. Longtime friend of DD is our painter, but I have to leave the house for him to stop talking and paint.

I'm the same way. Thought I was alone in the world like that...

I did have a handy man for a few yrs (several yrs ago) I always had a list for him. He'd come over on Sat or Sun (or both) and go thru the list. I really trusted him (still do) and he could come by and start in on it even if I was out running errands. I miss him! There were family changes in his life and he had to discontinue weekend work.

My grandmother had a wonderful handyman. He fixed things on the inside and outside of the house, had a workshop, worked out in the large yard, and they spoke the same old-world language. She’d ring the bell for him to come in for coffee, lunch, and afternoon coffee. I don’t know how often he was there, but he seemed like a fixture at the place. There was a gardener’s cottage on-site but he didn’t live there.

For me, definitely a household manager. Someone I can say, “let’s do xyz” and they will make all the pertinent phone calls and get it done.

"I would like someone to clean my house, but I do not want anyone lurking around my house, touching my stuff."

I agree! I like my privacy, I don't want to feel like I have to make small talk with someone, so definitely a maid! But one who would come just once or twice a week to take care of all the 'bigger' jobs, do what needed doing, and then be on their way.
