Something On the Lighter Side...
Comments (3)That's a hoot. It looks like the frogs are sitting on spools of thread. The area where I live is very historic, as is most of the Philadelphia area. Here is a true story: Like every old village, it seems, my town also has its haunted house and ghost story. It's the sad tale of John Roberts III, a Loyalist during the American Revolution who inherited the gristmill built by his Quaker father, John Roberts. The elder Roberts, a 60-something Welshman who had come to America in 1690 on the good ship Welcome, built a log cabin on Mill Creek Road. Called the 1690 House, its logs now covered in shingle siding, it is the oldest structure still standing in this Township. Legend has it that the younger Roberts, who sympathized with the British, made bread with ground glass in it and fed it to unsuspecting American soldiers. When his crime was discovered, he was summarily tried and hanged on Nov. 4, 1778, in front of his house (built in 1752). Subsequent residents claimed that his ghost prowled the premises until the turn of the century. Because of the alleged presence, the house remained unoccupied until around 1930. Ironically, that house would probably sell for $1.5 million today, ghosts included. Here's an older photo. Try to imagine poor old John Roberts swinging from a branch in front. Comments (14)“maddielee - a hearse transports the deceased from their home to _____ here in Maine. Is that not the norm?” in my area of Florida it’s usually a white unmarked van. When my mother died after a long illness, the neighbors were surprised when we let them know she had passed. They thought the white van was some sort of delivery person. Recently there was an article about a group of older gentlemen who play pickle ball near the gate of a retirement community. They always pause and remove their hats when a white van leaves the complex. Then the high-5 one another for not being in the van....See MoreLosing my mind over paint
Comments (73)Here's a simple picture showing how difficult this all is. The paint shown is the same grey paint. But it is showing up as a bunch of different colors depending on the light. They all do this. This is why we risk losing our minds. https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/How-to-pick-the-best-gray-paint-colour.-Showing-Benajmin-Moore-Shoreline-by-Kylie-M-INteriors-Edesign-blog.jpg...See More- 3 years ago
