Sooby I pointed out **page 28** of that manual so that everyone finally may realize that cup can be *** pulled out** from the drawer and emptied into the sink :)) Pouring liquid detergent with water still in the cup is not a good idea, cause it overflows too early This water left is not a design flaw. That's a cup and behaves ... as a cup. Unless one turns it upside down, it doesn't empty by itself. To figure out how this "cup thing" works, take a coffee cup, squeeze some dishwashing liquid in it, close your sink drain with the plug, hold in hand the cup under the open sink faucet. Water overflows the cup (your own detergent dispenser) and fills the sink (your washing tub). When you close the stopcock the cup is still full of water. It's **you** with **your wrist** that turn the cup upside down and empty it The washer dispensing cup for liquids works the same way .... but the washer lacks of a wrist to empty the cup :))

This happened to me with a Staber washer I have. I tried everything. Everything. I finally took the washer out of service, got me another washer. For this new washer, a Fisher Paykel, we never used anything but powder detergent and used no softeners, but did use vinegar occasionally. It never developed the mold problem. What about the Staber? well, it was stored in a garage for about a year, then brought back into service but got a really good cleaning cycle run through it on its first use. When stored for the year it was left totally open and airing out. It's never had the mold problem since. I guess the complete drying out did the trick. I only use powder detergents in it now, but still do use some softeners as its in an area with really hard water. It seems to be OK and has been for the last 2 years. NOthing else but the year long drying out seemed to work for me.

If my research is correct, the control board is part number 6871ER1003E. Google search finds a seller on Amazon.com (if legitimate) that has a small supply of them. Vinegar, RLR and original dawn dish soap. Hang them on the line outside in the sun. Those are the ways we have done it with cloth diapers for the last 20 years. We have never used any type of sanitizing chemicals and never needed them. Amoinia smells attach to minerals that buildup in the cloth. RLR is essentially really concentrated wahing soda. It acts as a water softener. That water softening action ”strips” the minerals from the cloth. Vineager acts as a PH adjuster. It has a detergent ”stripping” effect for any retained detergent that may be in the cloth. Orginal Dawn works as a protein stain stripper. It suspends grease and oil based stains in water and allows them to be washed away. If you use good detegent and your washing machine rinses well, then stripping is rarely needed. Most top tier laundry detergents have these agents as part of their chemical makeup. The ”cheaper” brands omit one or several of them to reduce cost. Detergents with enzymes also work a lot better to remove organic based stains. We have used original Tide and the switched to Tide PurClean and use that for virtually all of our cotton/syntheitic based laundry. Wool and Down get Miele’s house brand detergents. Miele WoolCare and Miele DownsCare. The last one has not been available for a while. When we cant get it we use the WoolCare on the Down based items. If you need to bleach the use Peroxide based agents. Hydrogen Peroxide works well but the water temp needs to be 160F or hotter for it to be most effective. Percarbonate based peroxide works at lower temps, but it takes more of it. This would be OxiClean. Many detergents that say ”with bleach” are just adding percarbonate based peroxide agents. Percarbonate bleaches work ”better” at higher temps and long wash durations. They wont do much if the express or quick cycle is used. Hope that helps some. Tide and Persil are expensive, but they are the best we have found. When dosed properly for your water hardness and level of soiling they do an excellent job.
