Is this bedroom set too massive for my bedroom? (pics!)
Comments (51)Believe it or not, decent looking ceiling fans exist. On every design show I've ever seen they're the first things to be thrown out, but I have them in every bedroom. Mmm slight draft at night without the sound of floor fan... I pspent no fewer than 18 weeks looking (off and on) for a "pretty" one to go in my master. I have lived with a 4 poster bed. My experience - unless you have really high ceilings, and I'm talking like 10 ft, and a sizeable room, it will turn your space into... tiny. Once upon a time in a previous life I thought I had a big bedroom until I put a poster bed in there. I like your computer nook. I always wanted a space like that, which I could separate from the rest of the room with some romantic drapery tied back. I might force that idea on my formal dining room. :) beds/headboards coverin ga window do bother me. I don't like anything to cover a window (couch, table, or otherwise) -- but that's just me. And if it came down to a queen bed, or covering that window, sure - the window would get covered! We have single panels on our two bedroom windows, mostly because they're skinny and it looked silly to me to have two panels. If you need to cover the window, something that seems to help (at least when I've seen it done) is to pull the bed away from the wall a foot or so. Then you can go with two panels, and it looks kind of intentional instead of "didn't have space." Something else to keep in mind with blocking windows -- does the sun come directly in such that it would fade your bedding over time?...See MoreNeed paint recs for a small guest North East bedroom?
Comments (24)Unfortunately it looks like my bedding will not be here on time for me to pick a color from it dammit I've taken a couple picks but bc the room is so small its hard to photograph (smaller than 8x10,now more like 8x8 i think bc we had to take some of the room up for bathtub). My next post will have a pic of view from hallway, So technically, if I do paint that wall on the left of the window in an accent color, it can't be seen unless you step in it. I'm narrowing it down to for Philadelphia Cream on the walls I think and Cloud White Trim. I'm really leaning towards painting the ceiling Philly cream too. I really don't like white ceilings. I'm headed down to take a look at Summer Lime and Castleton Mist in an hour. Does anyone have anything else to recommend? I have serious color fatigue. Has anyone painted their ceiling philadelphia cream?...See MoreWant to help me choose accessories for blank slate bedroom(s)?
Comments (5)whenicit, Thanks, but I need LOTS of help! The other advantage to the 2nd layout in BR1 is that the headboard is rather high and if I put it along the wall, it won't block the windows which would probably be better. I'll see about adding seating when I get the beds assembled. We may have room and it would give me a project to scour antique shops. That is what I'm planning on doing for a nightstand in the second bedroom. A little shabby/chic, beachy. I was going to look through some "Real Simple" magazines for inspiration. I'm not sure exactly what I want yet, but I though a "weathered" table, perhaps in a fun color, would go nicely with the iron bed. ajsmama, Thank you for the suggestion on BR1. I agree that swaping the nightstand is much better. On BR2, I think I could move the dresser closer to the door. The only think I actually don't like about the dresser in that position in general is that I'm not fond of the look of it from the side, but no mater how far forward or backward it is, I'm going to have that problem... Thanks for all you help! Jaymie...See MoreVery small bedroom. Need paint color suggestions.
Comments (14)First of all, do you want to keep the wood tone on the walls OR go with a light color such as light blue or even white? Nothing brightens up a room and brings in the outdoors as these two colors do. If you go with white paint on the walls, I would suggest you paint the ceiling a neutral light blue to bring in the color of the lake and the sky. Then, you might add a bedspread in a royal blue and white window pane plaid with large white squares inside the royal blue grids and complete the look with sheets and pillow cases in the light blue of the ceiling and royal blue or navy blankets. Red or yellow in small accessories would make a refreshing accent for the room. A textured area rug in dark brown or dark gray might make a nice backdrop for the blue and white linens....See MoreMamaham_NC_Zone7
