I have no idea on paint colors, I struggle with that myself. I just wanted to say I'm totally in LOVE with your flooring. It's gorgeous!!!!!

Based on your preferences, I'm going to double down on my two suggestions. I don't think large tile will work on your small area, and I definitely don't think you should do it because it's popular. A tile should match the size of the space. Anything that small with that many corners will also have lots of weird cuts in the tile, and you might end up having to have something like a 2" strip of tile at one side of the room. Large tile is also more expensive to install and more prone to "lippage" because it's harder to make it straight. The cost of Chevron/herringbone is higher. But it will also help hide the weirdness of cutting tiles around all the stairs etc. You would also need a fairly experienced tile guy for this job, not the lowest bid. Only you can decide if it's worth it to you to do Chevron. Note that brick is a bit more difficult to clean, but they make sealers you can put on them, kind of like for basketball court floors. A if you're matching. you will have to pull up that shoe molding in order to lay the flooring to the molding, or you will have a gap. So much easier if you just remove all of it and replace w/taller, white baseboard molding. will look much more up to date this way you lay your flooring to the wall, and put down baseboard on top of it. no shoe molding putting in shoe molding to hide the gap of bringing floor boards up to baseboard. or paint the wood white, bring in new shoe molding to match your flooring.
