Hi Rick, You say "not all Genus of seed can be treated the same" , and I could not agree more ... ;-) How long you soak is a "gut feeling thing". There are very hard "nut like" seeds that will profit from soaking longer than what is advisable for Adenium seeds. And for some seeds my gut feeling will say, soak for a few hours or 1 day. So to say that I always soak for at least 24 hours, like I said in my last Message was a bit bombastic, when I come to think of it ... ;-) When it comes to Adeniums I think it's good that the seed coat ( the outer covering of the seed ) is really well moistened so that it slides off easily by itself during germination. And it is a fact that I have soaked all my Adenium seeds for 48 hours, and have had good results. If the seed coat is hard, it clings to the seedling after the root has come out of the seed, and you will have to help it off. And then you can easily hurt the seedling ... My main point here is that mnspry has not killed his / her seeds by soaking for 24 hours. I agree fully with you when you say "more than likely your seeds where not viable". And I also agree fully with you when you say "give it another try" ! ........................................... So msnpry, get some new seeds form another seller, have a look at Ebay, for example. And best of luck with successful germination and growing the next time. I have bought adenium seeds from this same company and a adenium plant. Just this past month I sowed 5 of the twenty seeds I purchased the month before and 3 of them came up in about 7-10 days. I keep mine outside on the screened in porch. So they get filtered sun. Soil was moist when I sowed the seeds, I slipped them under the soil mixture at a angle,barely covered and misted them everyday. I'm using a mix of peat,potting soil,perlite,and a slow release fertilizer. I mix this myself to my likings.Hope this helps. Regina

Well....I guess I spoke too soon :( We have had more cloudy/rainy days and tempts got down to 44 at night :( I've had them indoors most of the last 2 days, only because it was in the 60's even in my greenhouse. I now noticed the 6 seeds that are showing, have the white mold starting on them. I guess they didn't like being indoors for 2 straight gloomy days. They still haven't popped out of soil (I so wish I would of waited to plant the seeds). Sorry Maria Elena! The other six are doing ok (I worry about the caps still being on 4 of them. The first that germinated is a little ofer an inch tall and looking really good. One other just lost his cap yesterday. Also, the one next to the tall one....is so tiny. Maybe he's the runt of the litter! I'm doing the best I can and hoping I can at least get these 6 Adeniums to make it:) Forcast is for sunshine (love the sunshine) tomorrow and Wed. Notice the white mold starting on the seeds...2 have lost their caps and doing good and still waiting on the 4 to drop their caps. I read that someone lost a seedling due to the cap (hope that doesnt happen), but I'm doing what Maria Elena said and I'm not going to mess with the cap.
