SW color match for BM Admiral blue
Comments (3)Regarding color matching. Part of the reason so many people have such different experiences is because it depends on the paint store person. If you DO NOT hand them a chip and say "match this" some of them will look up the closest match and give it to you because they figure if you don't have a chip, you have no clue if it's a match or not. And it's easier for them. When SW Nomadic Desert was a popular color, this happened often. BenM stores wouldn't even try to match the colors, they'd just make Sierra Hills and say it was Nomadic. If you asked for Latte you'd get Hillsborough Beige. People were none the wiser and then couldn't figure out why their "Latte" looked so different from what they saw at a friends house or seemed so different from the vibe the color even had in online pictures. If you have a chip, then they can't substitute their closest match. They have a target to match. You can order chips for free online. https://www.sherwin-williams.com/architects-specifiers-designers/color-samples https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/order-color-sheets And all the spin you hear about paint chips not being "real paint" and not as good as hand-painted samples is ridiculous. The paint chips have to meet rigorous quality control for color accuracy; the production standards are seriously hard-core color management. What do you think they use for a target, a point of control, to mix the paint used to paint those hand-painted samples? Comments (12)Hi - I would get a paint chip or sample from SW rather than rely on Samplize solely, as a source colour reference. I would ask how well they feel able to match SW Fleeting Green at BM also. Sometimes they will know which of their matches are most accurate. Then get a quart in the grade & sheen you are after. You can even paint a swatch in store, let it dry and ask them to compare the results. They have handouts with samples of sheen finish in store. There aren’t always direct sheen matches between companies as there isn’t a national standard as such - but a range for each sheen/gloss. But before all that just check Fleeting Green against Swept Away, to see if you could live with the differences. It may save the cost of a custom mix. Whichever you choose to sample, paint on either Swatchright paint/peel/stick decals or board (2 coats) to test in your room. That way you have the flexibility to move them into both light and shadow. Both colours have the potential to shift blue in certain imbalanced lighting. So you want to know how they will behave in your space....See MoreSW Snowbound color match with BM paint?
Comments (5)I'll be the one painting and just prefer using BM paint (Aura specifically). I have experience with SW paints and my area is actually mostly served by SW stores and painters. I just don't care for their products or paint sheens. All my wall colors I picked out are BM colors. I believe I have now checked every BM white color and nothing is quite like Sherwin Williams Snowbound. It just works the best with my fixed elements. Hopefully my store has experience custom-mixing Snowbound already, since it's a pretty popular SW color....See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
