best 36in gas drop in range to buy
Comments (3)Blue Star or possibly some other old copycat sites sometimes mistakenly(?) use the term "drop in" when the more common "slide in" is the commonly accepted term for the same configuration description today. (Fake) "drop in" sometimes also occasionally show up as a semi custom aftermarket piece of cabinet attached to a range bottom drawer....See MoreMost reliable 36 inch range?
Comments (2)second the recommendation on a 50's vintage range. Built like tanks, very simple design, not much to go wrong and pretty much nothing does, save perhaps the electric clock needing rebuilding every 20 years. As a bonus, everything still works when the power goes out. We had a Caloric that was pretty much pristine after 50 years of daily use. (That said, I just ordered the CC for the new kitchen--but I don't expect it to be as reliable.)...See MoreBest alternative to a 36" BlueStar RNB six burner gas range?
Comments (5)Chanop - I am not familiar with the Capital ranges. I will look into them. cookncarpenter - It is not a tract home. I did ask the builder if I could buy it myself and also gave them the name of the local dealer, so they could buy it and charge me a little extra for their efforts but they won't do it. If their distributor can't get it then they won't deal with it. It is a bit frustrating. Other options I am considering... a) buy the Wolf through the builder and then switch it out later for the Blue Star. It would involve having to sell the Wolf and I don't know if I would find a buyer or how much of a hit I would take on the price. b) let them install the 36" whirlpool cooktop that comes standard in their homes and then get the Blue Star. It would involve cutting the granite countertop after it is in place and also possibly modifying the cabinets to fit the Blue Star. I am not particularly keen on either option but I think (a) might be the least hassle and the most expensive route....See MoreBest 36” gas range?
Comments (11)What kind of cooking do you do? How often? What are your needs? How important is cooking performance vs cost? What service options are available locally? What do you have for a hood currently and what are options for a better hood if needed? Your current range is rather low end (IMO) so not too surprised by your problems. In general I'd say a 36" Bluestar RNB w/ 12" griddle is the best (we are putting a 48" w/ 24" griddle in our new house). A Bluestar RCS (open burner) is a less expensive option but has less powerful burners and no griddle. The main reason to get a Bluestar is the open star shaped burners. Aside from that then a 36" Wolf w/ 12" griddle would be a good choice. Better griddle than Bluestar and potentially with more locally available service depending on where you live. Any of these will be much more reliable and give you much greater cooking performance than what you currently have....See MoreEmily Barrett
