Bathroom refresh, shower pan needs replacing / questions

We would MUCH rather retain our tile than reinstall both because we like it and because of cost. Unfortunately, plumbing below our shower has to be redone (it's >80 years old) and this will require us to rip up the floor of the shower and so we will need to replace and have a new shower pan installed. We found a small hexagon tile that matches nicely (sample in hand).

Question: How feasible is it to not affect the hex tile floor in the actual bathroom and for the new tile to work with the shower door, given the sides of the shower where the door is and the base shower entry tiles (where you step into the shower) and that the tiles 8-12 inches above the floor will likely need to be torn out/replaced. Also wondering how a hex tile will fit the round edges of the base shower entry, not sure how the curve will fit.

It seems like one problem might just flow into another (removing shower door, chipping tile on floor) and we'd be stuck having to replace all the tile anyway. Tiles are probably from late 50s (not sure). Thoughts welcome.
