Are you planning on removing the granite backsplash also? Because a tile backsplash is not normally stacked on an existing solid material backsplash.

It looks like that wall to the left is painted white. I would do a plain white subway tile that would not compete with your somewhat busy counter. Yes, darker hardware would help to tie it in with the granite. I hate to see people painting good quality wood cabinets like yours.

TBH, trying to blend warm wood and very cool gray is tough. I like the hardware bc it echos the cool. What is the floor? Could you do a rug that ties the cool and warm together?

Floor currently matches cabinets (old Pergo faux hardwood). Any suggestions on that too would be appreciated. It will abut golden oak hardwood in family room and dining room, and grayish green slate in entryway.

You have a beautiful house! The kitchen cabinets look to be in good condition and work with the rest of the house. The countertop has a matching 6" (most likely) backsplash and it looks like an additional full backsplash was added at a later date. It is not usual to have both options, you actually dont need the glass backsplash which I agree was not the best choice.

Option 1: remove both(granite and glass backsplash) and start fresh. Pick a subway tile in an off white that goes with the countertop and walls. Most expensive.

Option 2: remove glass backsplash only and keeo the granite. Patch up walls and paint same color as walls

Option 3: you can in fact paint over the glass backsplash. You need to use a very good bonding primer though. And know that the grout lines will still be visible, much like a texture in the wall. Least expensive temporary dyi option.

The knobs and pulls are not related to the backsplash. But if a style update is wanted, replacing the knobs/pulls AND the light fixture is the most effective way

Regarding the color of the floor, you can add a rug or vinyl mat to offset the amount of wood

Normally, it is not a good idea to abut faux wood against real hardwood. If you plan to change the floor in the kitchen, I would go with LVP or tile in a stone look. There are lots of stone look patterns that would include both gray and tan tones without looking too busy. That might serve to tie in the cabinet color with the counter color. I would still go with a plain backsplash.

I agree. You have pattern in both the granite and cabinets with the wood grain. Keep the backsplash very simple. Don't add another backsplash if you're keeping the granite backsplash.
