CSO Miele vs. Wolf?
Comments (5)Yes, a large Breville countertop oven will work as a second oven. If you make a shelf for it, make sure to leave enough room to vent the heat. This also helps with changes in sizing if it has to be replaced. I use my combi-steam and regular oven about equally, but sometimes it's all one, and sometimes all the other. But I also bake, and make kale chips, and roast large trays of vegetables, etc. It's about having the right tools for what you want to do, but if what you want to do is narrow enough to just need one oven, well then that's your answer. Remember, too, that a steam oven is an expensive toy. I love mine greatly but it doesn't do anything that cannot be done using centuries old techniques. It just does them more conveniently....See MoreWindow Advise in our kitchen remodel - Please help!
Comments (3)I'd give up symmetry for light, so I think you should keep the window. I'd move the cooktop and hood closer to the window, then use open shelves on the other side, the same width as the window. alex9179 has a good suggestion, and you can have an appliance garage in the corner to avoid a 'cave.' I'd also suggest that the DW be moved to the left of the sink, and a dish hutch with glass at the top placed on the end, to break up the long stretch of counter. You'd then have separate prep/cooking and clean-up areas, which will make it easier for a helper to unload the DW, or gather dishes to set the table, without interfering in prep and cooking tasks....See Morekitchen remodel - please help
Comments (2)Use a flat piece of filler to fill the space between the crown on the ceiling and the top of the cabinet. Note how we have the filler on the far left cabinet that goes to the ceiling - but not on the one next to it:...See MorePlease help with kitchen remodel layout/dishwasher placement
Comments (7)Have you considered moving the Kitchen to where you have the banquette seating and putting in a table in the bay area. Then, you could create a Snack/Coffee Center and include some shallow pantry storage on the far right and bottom right. Honestly? I don't think this is a good use of space nor do I think it's very functional. There's too little counterspace where you need it most (b/w the sink and range) and too much where it's not particularly useful b/c it's too far from key components in the Kitchen. If you'd like other ideas, please post a fully-measured layout of the space under consideration and a sketch of the entire floor. The layout you posted is missing too many key measurements. By "fully-measured", we mean a layout with the widths of each wall/window/door/doorway and the distances between each wall/window/door/doorway labeled. See a sample below. If something cannot be moved or changed, label it precisely on your layout (see post in sample) and tell us why it cannot be moved/changed -- we may have some ideas for you. The sketch of the entire floor lets us see how the Kitchen relates to the rest of the home. It doesn't have to be to-scale, but it should accurately show how the rooms relate to each other and should include all interior & exterior doors. In addition, it will help us see how traffic flows in, around, and through the Kitchen. Label the front entry and family entry. The family entry is usually a garage or side entry, but it might not be. It's helpful to know which door you use to bring in groceries. Regardless of how you draw it up (by hand, computer, etc.), please be sure all measurements are labeled. (Note: Computer generated layouts often lack key measurements and, sometimes, measure to/from things like the middle of a wall or the middle of a window. Neither are useful. Measure each item and the distances between each item.) Other questions... Tell us about you and your family and how you plan to use your Kitchen. All-adults? Empty Nesters? Children (now or in the future)? What appliances (& their sizes) do you plan to have? Where are you flexible? Can walls/windows/doors/doorways change (move, change size, add, delete)? Do you have a basement under the Kitchen or are you on a slab? This might interest you...
