P.s. the bag of chard is incidental. There’s no chard in Christmas pudding😉

22 years ago my slide in electric range was available with a choice of either smooth top or coil burners. I choose one of each. I like the smooth top, but I also wanted to be able to use my cast iron frying pans. So I have the advantage of both. Moot point now, as I no longer can handle the weight of the cast iron.

I love my cast iron. I use it for everything, I don't remember when I last used a stainless skillet. I bake apple pie, pizzas, buns, pasta, omelettes, pancakes, oh and meat in it.

A few years ago we bought a portable induction burner. I thought it would be a good investment as it heats up quick and cooks at a low simmer. It sits out all the time and I use it daily. What I really love is that I use it out on the balcony. Hubby loved cooking the bacon outside to keep the smell out of the kitchen. Last summer I felt like making soup even though it was July and made it out on the balcony.

I will always remember my COVID Thanksgiving with only Marie and Libby as guests. (Nothing homemade, but it was good!)

The earthquake was 4.0 and the epicenter was in Inglewood, less then four miles from my house in Westchester. We didn't have any damage, but the windows rattled quite a bit, and it scared me because I was afraid it might be a foreshock. Also, it happened at about the same time of day as the Northridge quake. I think this one woke everyone up in my immediate neighborhood, judging by the response on Twitter.

So many to choose from, but just looking makes me hungry. :)

So, dinner, cottage ham, green beans and potatoes.

Followed by dessert, cream cheese pound cake.
