I just put in new shower grout caulk and it's cracking! Help!

The grout between our grey shower/tub wall tile and the rim of the tub had been wearing away and getting moldy, so I removed as much of it as I could and then put in new grout caulk (Colorfast Tile & Grout Caulk - the regular one, not high performance... and I think it's unsanded).

As soon as it started drying the caulk developed a hairline crack in many areas. I applied a 2nd coat per a tiler's recommendation but that still had some cracking (it was a bit better). Forgive the sloppy job - my first round I did with painters tape and it was much cleaner... I lost patience and was rushing on the 2nd round.

Is there a way to salvage this, or do I need to remove and start over (and maybe hire a pro?!)? Did I do something wrong, or is the product wrong for the job?
