design help - slate floor with white tile tub surround
Comments (2)Can you share pictures and/or links for your materials? It is sometimes difficult to envision material combinations when you can't actually see the materials. However, imagining the tiles from your description, I think the combination of slate and white would be lovely. Will the accent at the top of the shower be of the same granite as the vanity countertop? If so, I think either using the same granite for backsplash or the pearl white glass accent tiles as a backsplash would be lovely (or even a combination of the two). I suspect any color of wood would go well with your selections....See MoreFireplace surround design help needed
Comments (10)Here we go. I used your tile, well, because it was easier to do so since it was already angled correctly. The program I use has no way to reshaping things. While drawing it, I decided I'd like the wall above the fireplace angled too, so I did what I could to make it look that way. The program I use MS Paint, so there's only so much one can do. I've yet to get Power Point added to see if I like that better. In real life you could use smaller tiles on the side (here it would be leaving off the narrow tiles if it works with code for the fireplace, I don't know about gas, we have wood burning) to allow for a wider wood surround....See MoreHelp! Comments (3)Not sure about the Durock or wire mesh, which is one of your main questions. I don't do tile work, but I do design fireplace covers and gas fires and often help people with an overall finished look. So I created these two mockups to help you along the way, seeing as we don't know what direction you are really going with the style of decor in this room. I was going to create a mockup also showing a more traditional style mantel surround, but ran out of time. If you go that route, those two electrical supplies will likely need to be moved. Tile floor to ceiling with glass doors and burning glass with geoshapes Tile half way up with glass doors and matching metal angle iron trim to hide the exposed tile edge. We can make that metal trim any depth necessary. This works well if you want a rather contemporary look. You can also use wood molding. (Shown with gas burning fireballs.)...See MoreDesign Advice - Fireplace Surround
Comments (15)Since your bookshelves are short, taking anything to the ceiling may emphasize this. I would take inspiration from Beverlys 1st photo above and keep the center portion uniform and raised to 10" below your ceiling height with no mantle. You could use wood panels or paint maybe BM Kendall Charcoal. Then update your cabinet doors and keep it white to match your existing trim and accessorize with your green colors and wood objects....See Morevmurphy69
