Comments (0)Would like to get a third darker rusty orange/reddish shade for one wall. Any advise appreciated. Hubby is ready to divorce me over taking so long deciding on paint. My tiles are gold with rush in them which makes them look orangy. I also have a rug that has brown, burgundy, beige, rust, blue/green (hate these colors) in it. See below (hope I did this right) Couch is darker gold...not much light in this living/dining room. http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/ab10/bmjabber2/living%20room%20plan/th_tile2.jpg Thanks Barbara...See MoreHelp choosing flooring and paint colors!!
Comments (14)For those interested, we ended up going with BM Mascarpone for most of the living room, hallways and ceilings. BM Wedgewood Grey in the bedroom (love it!) and BM Mexicana on the fireplace wall and the office/guest bedroom. For the flooring we went with the Lowes plank in natural chestnut, a nice neutral light brown color and half the price of the Allure planks! I am finished the painting and floor except a bit of touching up and trim areas for the paint, I will post real "after" pictures later but here is a sneak peak! First of all, this is how the tenants left it - very dirty carpet and windows (previous owner rented it out for a few months): ugly vinyl in kitchen and downstairs bath Here it was in the middle of our "during" (I did this almost all by myself, my husband helped a bit but had to work - I did the carpet removal and underpad/tack strips in less than 2 days) After painting walls and ceiling, cleaning and sealing the cement slab (windows still filthy, sorry!) With flooring in various stages of completion: With our stuff moved in, ready to unpack and set up New light fixture in dining area (don't mind the piles of stuff that have to be unpacked and put away!) We're sort of stuck at this stage now since I had to work this week, no time to get any setup done... but I love the colors we chose and the new floor is great! It is so easy to clean up spills and really looks pretty good for 8 cents/sq ft. Time elapsed from first photo to last was 7 days! I don't recommend working on floor installation for 4 days straight for 14 hours a day though, my hands were swollen up like balloons and had to be iced and rested for 2 days I overdid it....See Moreshould I paint living room grey if I have grey floors?
Comments (4)Depends upon your furniture somewhat, however. Have you thought about a color such as Benjamin Moore Smokey Taupe? Might give a slightly warmer feel to the room without doing a color such as bluish & greenish . Really have to sample colors in the room. Or you could just do a while complimentary to your floors....See MoreWhich lights for a cathedral ceiling in my wooden chalet?
Comments (14)For your general lighting, you could install a cable lighting system. And, actually, you can hang pendants from the cable system for things like the dining table. I happen to think your home would look amazing with this type of lighting. The first photo is one I go back to time and time again because the lights just seem to float as if they were stars or something. Imagine how beautiful that would look at night in your chalet with those windows and cavernous ceiling! If these interest you, check out Tech Lighting....See Morejordydog1
