Calcutta Gold Backsplash Tile with Black Countertop?
Comments (76)How did you find an actual fireback to insert? I did a image search for firebacks and picked one that was shot straight on and square (easier to copy and paste squares or rectangles than ovals and other shapes). I played with the image in Paint to get it to the right size for your image. I learned this all by trial and error when I worked on my kitchen design. ...that's more gray, so I guess if I chose a gray one, then Carrara marble would probably look better that calacutta? I personally prefer the marble tile over the white subways and prefer calacatta over carrara for your kitchen. You've got a lot of white and black going on already; the gold veins bring in the warmth from your lovely wood floors (and possibly your walls, can't quite tell what color they are). I don't think you have to have everything match exactly. As long as the tones compliment each other - no cool grays with warm grays - I think you can blend a grayish fireback with near black counters and calacatta marble tile. Personally, I think that also makes for a more interesting mix....See Morechoosing quartz countertops: veined or grained?
Comments (20)I think design is changing faster than it ever has and it's hard to keep up with it. Just because I bought something only a few years ago doesn't mean that it's not already dated. My house was built in 1999 and the finishes that were used caught the tail end of the 90s trends so it was already dated when it was built. When we remodeled our guest bath four years ago, we bought Giallo Ornamamental Light granite for the small vanity because it was the only cream-colored remnant we could find and we had guests coming. Shortly afterwards, someone here referred to speckled granites as "dog vomit granite". I thought to myself "Yep, that's my GO." I can try to convince myself that it's a popular granite but the truth is, it's not used much anymore. I wish I'd had more choices at the time but I did not. I just took a peek at Cambria and they call their speckled quartz the Classic collection and they have not added new colors since I looked at kitchen countertops six years ago....See Morewhite paint to go with Silestone Eternal Calacatta Gold Countertops

Comments (9)We are currently remodeling our kitchen. Installing bright white shaker cabinets, and chose Silestone Calacatta Gold. I think I looked at every quartz option out there...I was driving myself crazy. I didn't wan't anything too bold, or too busy, or too dark. I like that it reads more "white" from a distance, and you notice the lighter veining once closer. We will be using a light gray matte finish back splash tile, champagne bronze pulls, and lighter wood look vinyl plank flooring. Still nervous about how it will all look once completed, since we're piecing it all together...but we'll see soon!...See MoreDebra
