Windows Design Dilemma

Best window color for a red brick house

I have a red brick house and am replacing my windows with Anderson 100 series windows. I am trying to decide if a lighter or darker window color would be preferable. Right now, I'm thinking of having sandtone windows with dark faux outside shutters. However, I've also been told by some that black/dark bronze windows are the way to go. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

I love black windows but I think they would be too harsh for your home. I would do a dark bronze, which provides a softer transition from your window frame to your brick tone.

Really anything but white. Photos of your house would get you more advice.

My opinion is that the darker charcoal gray is going to meet your stated objectives the best. Determining which would look the best would be harder to do. The dark has more contrast the light has less. I think it would come down to what would look best on your particular house and on individual preference.

Adding to my original post - The first pics I included are of the House as it is now. It shows the reddish brownish creamish brick & shows how it looks in different light. The last pic is of the Estate Gray color roof we are having done. I will now post a pic of the cedar color we like for the stain on the replaced posts on the front porch, as well as the Sherwin Williams Mt. Etna color we were thinking of - but it might be too dark...

Dark bronze is very beautiful on red brick, without pictures, that is the best recommendation I can give.

This is what my house looks like. One thing to note is that the garage door is being replaced with a mahogany color one.

Whatever you decide paint the remaining trim- soffits, fascia, gutters- to match the windows. I would remove that one set of shutters- it doesn’t add anything.

If you are keeping the beige or tan trim, then I think Sandtone is a good choice for the windows. It doesn't look like shutters will work on this house given the style of the windows, and there isn't enough room for them anyway.

No shutters on this house.

No mahogany garage door on this house either.

This would be the way I would update your home.

I hope we haven't chased away the OP but this house could be more than what you have planned for it, and some of your selections need adjustment. Red brick can be tricky to work with.
