I won't buy sleeper earrings again

I bought a couple of sets from Amazon. They're lightweight, very comfortable.....no allergic reactions, etc. I keep them in all the time.

But when I want to change them out, the curved part that goes in my ear is such a pain to put in. A straight post goes right through, but the angle of the curve makes it hard for me to find the back hole.

So they don't get changed out as often as I'd like. This happens with all 4 holes.

Other than that, they're super comfortable, albeit a bit small, which is also good for daily wear.

I posted here a few months ago about maintaining pierced ears and a problem I had with my left ear because I have not been wearing earrings because I don't leave the house often in these times. I have never liked earrings with posts. I've always worn French wires. I couldn't get one through my left ear without pain and wearing it hurt. I got advice from people on this forum to put some antibiotic cream on the earring and I did that. Have since purchased "sleeper" earrings to maintain my pierced ears - so they might not be what you want, and they are difficult to close but at least you still have your piercing intact.

This one is a tough one, because either it is something that grows like a weed and will probably grow anyway or it something I really like and keep trying just for the sake of getting it, at least until my seed packet runs out, then I may not bother with that particular variety again. That said, these are off my planting list: Moonflower - First year produced a ton of foliage, bloomed rather late (August), and didn't have enough flowers to really make it worth it. The flowers were kind of hidden too and only lasted the night, except for cold days when they lasted a little longer. Their fragrance was their saving quality, but overall it took too much space in my boulevard garden and staking it was kind of a pain. This year: It didn't bloom. Buds are on now but it will frost before they can open. Sweet Dreams Cosmos: Our season just isn't long enough for them to grow. Last year, just barely got them blooming late August or Middle September. This year it took them to October to produce buds and they won't open before it frosts and the weather goes downhill. Makes me wonder if anyone else in Zone 3/4 has trouble with these as well? Maybe If I really wanted them blooming, I need to buy them as bedding plants that have been forced to bloom before planting. Nasturtiums? I love the flowers and the spicy leaves, but they always turn yellow and grow really sickly in our container gardens. Maybe I'll try again with a different seed mix, or maybe not.

Our Culinarian now in use for over 3 years here in Northwestern Connecticut. Purchased from Trevor. When new, the igniters did a lot of clicking when at the simmer setting. The service tech came out and fixed that. The problem was that the igniters were not properly aligned with the gas jet behind the igniter. I asked him to lower the simmer as far as possible. I knew about the simmer complaints before purchasing, I decided the large burners were more important to me than simmer. I decided to deal with that issues by purchasing a simmer plate. So far, I've never had to use it so I guess the service tech did a good job with the adjustment.

Couple hundred years ago apple was spelled apfel; at least in zees coontry. George Washington woulda wrote it that way. Presumably the "f" was or became silent. I lookt it up in Google; gulp! I had no idea it was anything except an archaic disused abandoned word.

Thank you for your responses. It is so reassuring to have that support. I will write to the company CEO when this is all over and will print out all your comments for his edification! Thank you for the address,Tracey's. I went over the warranty terms with great care yesterday (after the most recent customer sevice rep kept asking me whether I had read the warranty, presumably suggesting that I should not be bothering him with questions about the warranty). The salient points appear to be: 1. There is a 365 day warranty (beware leap years!) 2. Starting on the date of purchase (I am not sure what that date is. Is it the date of delivery? Or the date of payment or financing arrangements being made? Or the date the order is placed?) 3. There is no extension "for any reason whatsoever" of this warranty (i.e. if the problem arises on day 364 and the repair hasn't been made by day 365, you are out of luck.) 4. Replacement parts don't get a warranty extension either. 5. There is no warranty at all for a range which is sold as a store display or is sold "as is". 6. The warranty is automatically void if anyone other than an authorized service provider works on the range. Noone else is even permitted to explore "the appliance's inner workings." CAVEAT EMPTOR. Don't buy til you've studied the warranty

Not to divert the thread -- but -- I wear CLIP-ONS and have worn earrings every day since the shutdown. I think it contributes to my mental health.

When I read "sleeper earrings" it made me think of the self piercing earrings that were popular back in the 70s that were supposed to gradually pierce your ears as you slept. Or perhaps they were a torture device!

Wondering if you move your earrings so that skin and built up dead skin cells do not form harder pieces. Those pieces can stick to the metal and when the earring is removed it can irritate the surrounding skin, Think of it as using a coarse emery board on delicate tissue. When I started wearing them the suggestion was to take them out and clean the metal wire/post every three or so days to prevent this build up or at least move them within the hole. The skin is elastic enough that even a small amount of air reaching those dead skin cells can dry them.

I don't have any build up and I use the cream. It's the angle of the curve that I can't get thru my ear. I'm going to try Ritamay and Lars' suggestion of inserting the earring backwards.

I'd never heard of "sleeper" earrings. I tend to wear small hoops, and just leave them in all the time. Maybe those are "sleeper" earrings? They weren't described as such though.

I keep a small container of cocoa butter Vaseline on the dresser with my earrings jewelry box. I put a tiny bit on my ear lobes and massage it in and I dip the wires into the Vaseline to lubricate them and they just slide right in. I have several sets like the ones pictured. I have a pair in right now.

I wonder if plumbers collect earring backs. There must be a few dollars worth of gold ones in the catch beneath my bathroom sink. Took me a while to learn to *close the stopper* before I put my earrings in.

I wear small gold hoops all the time, easy to sleep in too.
