suggestions - gray (with purple tint) paint needed
Comments (12)I had to do a search to find this thread. Just a quick update. Well, today was crunch day and I absolutely had to make a decision & pick up the paint. The Browns just didn't cut it. I don't know why I even thought I'd try that route. I guess I was just frustrated that the grays were not working. gailrolfe I have to agree with you on how hard it is to judge the BM colors. Every one I tried that looked not too purple on the swatch was so heavy that they were a bust too. I went back to the BM store to get the revere pewter even though it was still looking a tad too greenish it seemed the best of the lot. Once there I also looked at the rockport gray (still too green in my space) & then decided to take one more gander through and asked to see the Silver Fox that laxsupermom suggested in the photo above. Thank You! I like it! It has a lot of taupe in the gray that will pick up on the brown in the cabinets and it goes well with both the floor & the granite. Interesting the formula mix is brown & green! Whew! The deed is now done! The cans are here for the painter and there is no going back! Thank you everyone for the suggestions. It really helps to have a paint name to check out. Silver Fox! What a pretty name for the paint. :)...See MoreHelp! I’m struggling to find the right dark accent gray!
Comments (11)Thanks everyone! I’ll look into your additional suggestions. One more question...do you think I should paint the 2 story wall above my door the same egdgecomb gray as the rest of the house and forget trying an accent color there? I kinda think it looks boring in the light color, but worried I’ll be forever spinning my wheels on that one given the backlight coming in? @Kjoy, the black looks awesome! I just don’t think I have the guts (and my husband may kill me). How did you mock up the color like that?...See MoreHelp with Navy Blue paint!
Comments (24)Apply two coats of flat latex paint to the grasscloth wallpaper, using a roller. Move the roller vertically across the wallpaper, proceeding left to right. Allow the first coat of flat paint to dry for two hours before applying the second. Use a paintbrush to prime areas of the grasscloth wallpaper that are inaccessible to the roller. Let the wallpaper dry for two hours. Clean the roller by washing it. Apply the finish coat to the grasscloth wallpaper, using the same method used to prime it. Satin latex paint will provide the most attractive result. The two pre-coats of flat latex paint act as a primer for the grasscloth wallpaper. Although it may seem like a nuisance, apply both of these coats, or the finish may dry unevenly. Comments (16)Thank you everyone. I have large paint boards from a craft store. I have 5 different colors painted. One color on each board. I am leaning now towards Harbor Gray or Roycroft Pewter as the Homburg Gray doesn’t have enough excitement for me. Lacks depth of color? Seems too muted green/blue. It’s new construction so have done the best I can to out board in various lights. I want a dark island and Cyberspace is awesome too dark. So down to two above....See MoreRelated Professionals
