Comments (16)Well, here is the problem... here is the BM Color Preview palette as it would be displayed in the store. The blue arrow is Sweet Innocence, the red arrow is Gull Wing Gray the color that looks a tad purple in my room. Now, I don't claim any color expertise, I'm just am going off of what the design consultant at my BM store told me. Gull Wing Gray is not Purple, it's Blue Green, (she showed me the color notation in a database). BM makes things harder by mixing paints of different hues on the same strip. If what I read online is correct, Sweet Innocence is also in the Blue Green family. As I said, I'm not an expert, but I have spent a lot of time pondering gray paint. I love gray! The idea that something supposedly blue green can look purple boggles my mind, and I'm trying to understand it. (sorry, I just edited this post to correct a typo and it messed up the picture :( if you click on it, you can see the whole thing)...See Moresuggestions - gray (with purple tint) paint needed
Comments (12)I had to do a search to find this thread. Just a quick update. Well, today was crunch day and I absolutely had to make a decision & pick up the paint. The Browns just didn't cut it. I don't know why I even thought I'd try that route. I guess I was just frustrated that the grays were not working. gailrolfe I have to agree with you on how hard it is to judge the BM colors. Every one I tried that looked not too purple on the swatch was so heavy that they were a bust too. I went back to the BM store to get the revere pewter even though it was still looking a tad too greenish it seemed the best of the lot. Once there I also looked at the rockport gray (still too green in my space) & then decided to take one more gander through and asked to see the Silver Fox that laxsupermom suggested in the photo above. Thank You! I like it! It has a lot of taupe in the gray that will pick up on the brown in the cabinets and it goes well with both the floor & the granite. Interesting the formula mix is brown & green! Whew! The deed is now done! The cans are here for the painter and there is no going back! Thank you everyone for the suggestions. It really helps to have a paint name to check out. Silver Fox! What a pretty name for the paint. :)...See Morelooking for a super light gray for nursery..no blue/purple undertones!
Comments (5)Am not surprised about First Star. It sits towards the end of the Yellow Hue Family heading toward Green-Yellow. Low Chroma colours from this neighbourhood are prone to shifting blue in imbalanced light. I would have thought Eider White to have the potential to look more lavender rather than blue. But everybody’s light situation is different. Sometimes just moving a few degrees away from the colours which don’t work can be enough. Sometimes you may have to increase the Chroma so they are somewhat less impacted by changing light. These suggestions sit between Eider White + First Star....See MoreHelp! Navy blue paint too blue
Comments (34)Wow Melissa R! those mockups are amazing! thank you! I went ahead and had contractor repaint to Hale Navy. It‘s still not a perfect match (more grey), but I like this combo/color better than the Old Navy. Those undertones in the old navy blue were just bothering me! I will put the wallpaper up and then decide if we should try for a better match or if it‘s good enough as is (I think it will be good enough :). This is definitely a lesson to get samples and paint swatches on the wall rather than pick from a paint chip. I’ll report back when the wallpaper is up. Thanks to everyone for weighing in!...See MoreBoxerpal
