To add - this is the idea I have so far. But it feels plain.

(if you ever do replace the roof, look into a composite slate tile. slate would be period appropriate and they do make the composite slate tiles that look pretty close. )

I'm thinking if you did something w/your concrete steps, it would tie in better when you redo your paint. they have porch paints in a semi transparent or a solid. you could pick a soft gray, a copper or even that patina green color.

So, here are some of my color combos. I've given you some light ideas (if the porch is tall enough do a hanging pendant light), some address plaque ideas, pottery for plants, and color combos

tried a darker peacock color on the trim. goes nicely w/the red/orange brick. I also gave you the natural cedar shake in the gable. I like the natural warm color w/the copper tones.

I like the blue/gray colors w/a creamy white and copper accents. I listed a bunch of diff colors on the photo so you can see what you like and get samples.

On this one below, I gave you the cedar shake (instead of you painting it the trim color, stay w/cedar color) , and the colors are all warm autumn like colors. Notice the 2 address plaques. Oh, and a warm, medium stained craftsman style front door.

Or, I love the black. look at a black trim, w/the cedar shake (see it here?) and copper accents. this is stunning. do the down spouts or gutters in the copper color.

This one is the greens and bronze tones. SW Jasper for the front door color, bronze hardware and lighting, soft ivory or the Urbane bronze for trim, or one of the sage greens.

flower beds, I like this color pot/urn, the lighter stones in the flower beds, and the green foliage.

similar brick color. do the flower beds like this. and if you have a pathway, think about doing this flagstone.

If you go w/blue/green colors, make sure you do the copper accents

copper flower boxes.

if you want the light, blue/green door option, here are a few.

you could also paint your steps w/porch paint in a soft copper color. Or maybe do a dark green like that front door over a coat of gray. two tone it like they did here

Here's another small brick tudor. notice how the faced the steps w/the same brick. this looks great. They went w/a warm gray and soft white trim. love the flower beds and walkway.

@Beth H. : Wow thank you! I do have to admit the cedar shake is beautiful, and also the recommendations on the accessories to reinforce the colour story. I think you have convince me not to shy away from using colour. #1 (which is basically a refresh of current colours) and #3 are really speaking to me. But I also am going to see about black trim, with cedar. When I was originally playing with black trim I struggled with the siding choice, but the cedar shake maintains warmth. SO much to think about!!

@houssaon: Thank you as well! And I appreciate your feedback on the scallop shingles, and completely agree. The door looks to be more mid-century and does not let enough light in - but I am hoping I can pass it on to someone who can better showcase it. I would pick gray and dark gray for trim from your brick. Some option

An update for those interested - when we moved in we learned that the green around the windows we are stuck with! Its like the flashing on the windows were custom dyed that colour :)

This is the scheme I am thinking - and if you are interested in giving feedback would love to hear! Will post afters once its done.
