Best Purple ?? Rose in the Purple Family??
Comments (23)HMF has Night Owl listed as deep wine red as well as mauve. Purple to anything with pink shading is okay, although purple to a lavender shading would be better. I am not sure about the red, as everything in the front yard is pink, lavender, white, or purple. Purple Skyliner appears to have the best color range but I am not sure how it will perform here. Wild Blue Yonder is possible too, but after re -evaluating the space, I think something with small flowers would look better. I am beginning to consider planting a small white climbing rose for the area because finding the right purple is tough, or I am just fried. Thank you for all of the input. Comments (4)I would suggest Orpheline de Julliet, and Tuscany Superb, they are both ogr gallicas, I don't grow either of them but they are both beautiful dark colors, I am recieving a band of Orpheline de Julliet in the spring, hoping it will grow well here. I wish you luck with your search, and I agree with Souv du Docteur Jamain as well, I'm trying it as well this spring even though it's not the best for my climate but a beautiful rose I atleast had to try, Happy rose hunting!...See MoreDoes anyone know this dark purple/ crimson moss rose?
Comments (5)Hmmm . . . I've been looking at photos of 'Indigo,' and you're right, it does look a LOT like it! The leaves look right, too. This rose is smaller and has a higher petal count than the descriptions for 'Indigo,' though . . . I wonder whether those depend on growing conditions? I think this rose is a once-bloomer, but I could be wrong . . . I'll have to go out and check on it a few times this summer to see whether it blooms again....See MoreWANTED: Gallica roses dark red or purple
Comments (0)Please see my trade list. I don't have a lot of old roses to trade but do have HT's. I don't have a Gallica rose and would like to add at least one to my collection. Thanks....See Moresultry_jasmine_nights (Florida-9a-ish)
