Centipede Grass Help- ID this disease (fairy ring)???
Comments (7)Get some cornmeal or cracked corn or chicken feed and put out around 20 lbs per 1000 feet in this area.  I had this a few years ago.  It is some type of fungus and the corn products took care of it in a couple of weeks.  I noticed that my area was not draining as well as I liked and the ground felt compacted.  I used my neighbors aerator to punch threw the area which helped loosen the soil and helped it drain.  The funny this is after 10 plus years of lawn in nothing but sandy soil there was a hard crusty area that I had to break through.  But your problem looks exactly what I had a few years back.  Good luck....See MoreBrothers Grimm Fairy Tale: anyone growing this?
Comments (8)I have this one along with the Gelber Engel/Yellow Angel. Both want to throw long canes that will reach about 6 ft if you let them. Its growth habit is more like a small climber that wants to flop over. The Brothers Grimm is fairly healthy. I haven't seen a lot of blackspot on it although it will if you don't spray it. Yellow Angel will blackspot worse than Brothers Grimm. The color on Brothers Grimm is variable. The last flower, as in 1, was like Beth's picture, quite orange with a yellow reverse, but the color is not consistent throughout the summer. In the heat of summer it is more pink with a lighter yellow reverse. I typically do not see any large sprays. This is my second year with this rose. It survived the Easter freeze without too much problem, but like most of my others, it showed some stress all through the growing season. I don't see that hardiness would be a problem with this rose....See MoreAre Kordes Fairy Tale⢠roses disease resistant?
Comments (12)I grow most of the Kordes Fairy Tale roses and have found them to be very healthy here in zone 4/5 New Hampshire. I no longer spray my roses and most moderns will get some blackspot and occasional mildew by mid to late summer here without any prevention. My Kordes Fairy Tale roses show above-average disease resistance here. I grow: Floral Fairy Tale, Elegant Fairy Tale, Lion's Fairy Tale, Caramel Fairy Tale, Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale, Sister's Fairy Tale and Pomponella Fairy Tale. I also added some of Kordes newer roses and have found them to be wonderful too. Those include Larissa, Zaide, Cream Veranda, Lupo, and Big Fruitilia. None of the above roses are fragrant, but I'm willing to trade scent for healthy roses. Another thing I'm a fan of is how GLOSSY the leaves on these newer Kordes are. Even the leaves are beautiful! Comments (7)I was very surprised today to see that my Sunshine Glory may be getting a fairy ring....hmmmm, perhaps a good excuse to spread its glory! I LOVE that hosta! Picture is from 2007, sorry so old... For those of you who know about my front yard hosta garden that got eliminated because of Maple trees...that's the spread of Home Depot hostas from bareroot bags that I had planted all the way across the front of my house before I knew anything about hostas. In the bags were Aureomarginata, Shade Fanfare and that more silveryblue white-edged one behind the Sunshine Glory...what is that albomarginata? Anyway, they are all gone from there now, except for the Sunshine Glory as it was on the periphery of the Maple Tree problem. PS....I did make a lot of $ selling those common hostas, as much as $25 a pop. People were so glad to get large ones and didn't care about names at all....See MoreStephanie, 9b inland SoCal
