This was a spare room in our last house. It had 2 6ft bifold doors. I liked you could open them up to see everything inside at one time. We were just recently at a hotel that had 6 ft sliding doors on the closet. 3/4 was for hanging clothes and 1/4 was drawers. I told my husband I am glad we never had those kind in any of our houses. I had to keep sliding the doors back and forth to get what I needed out of them.

so, after talking to our kitchen person for pricing, the two options we are considering for the garbage pullout are: A - similar to A S layout, drawer (15"), garbage pullout (15"), sink (36"), DW(24"), cabinet (6") I like that the sink stays centered here and the Garbage-rinse-DW ease of use I don't like the loss of drawer space, it is appprox $200 more expensive than option B, which isn't a big deal B - drawer bank(18"), sink (36"), DW(24"), garbage pullout (18") I like the more space in the drawers, but unsure of the sink placement. The biggest issue being that support post that goes to the ceiling/bulkheads. I am afraid to move the sink too much in case it looks off. 🤔 but if I have to move the sink, I would prefer away from the post closer to the range rather than the other way around I think. I think we are passing on side or back cabinets sadly. I want them but apparently the side cabinets would cost a bunch, plus a different trim kit to hide unsightly seems, on top of expanding the island a bit to get the shallow cabinets... is a few thousands of dollars more than our budget. 😪

^^ that motion detector light is very cool and maybe your best option. for me, I needed my closet to be lit from the front. otherwise the top shelf would just block the light and make it useless. I installed LED strips to the inside of the door frame, pointing forward. the kind of lights you use under cabinets. the switch also got installed inside the frame where I could easily reach it. (although a motion detector would have been so much better!) to plug it in, you could run the wire up to the top and convert your socket into an outlet with one of these. it's not beautiful, but it would work. or you could get somebody handy to hard wire it and make everything look nice.

I too have spent an enormous amount of time looking at lighting and it feels like I’ve just reached a whole new level of adulting 😆. I love your Kichler light and it pairs so nicely with the dining room fixture! After your first comment on this thread I looked into getting that Kichler light for our kitchen but the brass one only comes with clear glass. Bummer! Anyways, I’m so thankful for both of your help! After spending so much time trying to figure it out on my own I was starting to forget what kind of lighting I was wanting in the first place 😅. I think the Hinkley one will be perfect for our kitchen!
