Exterior Paint color--Please help! Painter is starting early
Comments (17)Bestyears, thanks for the mockup. I do know photoshop--DOH! I guess I should try that myself ;-) The blue gray that is the door is the same as the siding. So many of you like that color?? Like I said earlier, I had a couple of friends tell me they thought it was dated, so I guess that is why I was determined to go with another color. I think the taupe in the mockup makes the rock pop, but I'm not really a taupe person. I'll have to reconsider that. Finally, DO you think I need to add SHUTTERS to the bottom where the rock face is? Does it make it look out of balance to the top? I got this wild idea last night that I and my husband could make board and batten shutters--it's just 2x4s nailed together ;-) He is never going to agree to that. Here is example of the shutters I am talking about. Maybe that has to come later ;-) Please keep the suggestions coming. Off to the paint store. Comments (11)I would suggest the darker color for the main body of the house, and then a lighter color on the forward section with the entry in it. Then, a third color on the round "tower". Darker or lighter, just different. Then pick out the details in the stucco individually, such as the trim around the arches in the white to tie it in with the windows, and the actual interior face of the arch in the blue. I'd also find some pretty tile to put on the steps face, and under the sill of the arch sections. Tile and color accents....See Moreexterior paint color/design help
Comments (1)That is a common thing on new built homes but I find it much too busy in most cases. I'd paint the body the color you used on the garage door and the trim a few shades lighter....See MoreExterior paint colors - HELP!
Comments (11)celerygirl, these are great!! I know you (and RL) are right that the shutters are technically incorrect because they would not cover the windows if closed...I've know that rule forever but somehow hadn't even thought about taking them down. I guess the stress of moving, especially during #plaguedays (that's what we call it) has got me off my game. We've only been here a week. I don't suppose you can do a mockup of what it would look like sans shutters? :) I like the blue and lime also! I had thought about a dusty turquoise with lime. For what it's worth, we are also having the porch screened in similar to pic below, so removing the shutters might help keep it from looking too busy. Then I could do the door pretty much any color....See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
