Sonos vs. HTD.com whole house audio
Comments (1)Sonos is more of a wireless thing if I remember correctly - with the potential problems. I'd check out cocoontech and avsforum. There are plenty of Sonos proponents over there. I feel like it might be good for you but was tough(expensive) on a larger system. Might have more power draw being wireless/More batteries to deal with. Then there is the possible interference in an apartment setting. I think it uses wi-fi but my research was well over a year ago. HTD is a kepypad/multi channel amp. Conventional wiring. Commonly compared to Russound and Niles etc....See MoreDo I have a TV problem or DVD or Antenna problem?
Comments (3)From the information given, the reason for the low sound levels from the DVD player are likely because you are using your 2 channel TV speakers instead of a receiver which can decode the 5.1 to 7.1 channels of sound provided on the DVD. At the main menu for a DVD, Try selecting Setup, Audio and pick Dolby 2.0 or whatever 2 channel audio track is available if possible. That should improve the sound level of dialogue that would normally come from the center channel in a 5.1 speaker configuration. Some DVD's may not have a 2 channel mode available....See MoreMagnavox 37MF337B audio issue
Comments (0)I have a Magnavox 37MF337B 37 inch TV and a Pioneer VSX515 Home Theater receiver. The TV is connected to the receiver using a digital coax SPDIF cable. The the problem I'm having is when I watch a digital channel over broadcast or cable, the audio frequently cuts out. When watching any analog source, there is no problem at all with the audio. When I watch TV using the speakers attached to the TV, there is also no audio problem on digital or analog channels, only when I listen to audio from digital TV stations through the receiver. I've tried 2 different digital audio cables and the problem persists. It happens on all digital channels on cable or off air. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?...See MoreFavourite audio book narrators and thoughts on audio books
Comments (13)I've been reading audiobooks almost exclusively since 1982 through the US National Library Service's Talking Books program, and all of their narrators are top-notch. Very occasionally there is someone with an accent I find harder to follow but the problems created by unusual accents are never so severe that I stop reading a book. My impression of commercial audio books is that they tend to be jazzed up with (a) background music and (b) narrators who assume different "voices" for the various characters. I prefer just the book, read in a straightforward way. But I do wish sometimes that the readers would make it clear where a quotation begins and ends, maybe by saying "Quote" and "End quote."...See Morejoann_fl
