DH and I had no effect from our Pfizer shots. However, Moderna affected DIL both times for several days, and BIL was quite ill starting the next day for two days.

My mom, age 103, had no reaction to second Moderna shot. Could be because she didn’t even remember it. I get my second in three weeks. I have so many other aches and pains going on, I don’t need another problem, but grateful that I will be fully vaccinated.

My Moderna were pretty easy, including the second one. I had no fever, but felt mildly chilled at about the 24 hour mark with #2. And, very tired. Nothing was particularly painful, I just wasn't quite myself. DH was complaining of nothing other than sore arm (we got both shots at the same time) - then on about the third day from our second shot, he got up in the morning and said, 'you know, I really do feel like myself today. I hadn't realized I'd felt a little down and tired until having this morning to compare the last two days to.....;0)

Quite survivable. We are at day 15 from completing both shots today.

My mother had no complaints that she expressed with either of her Pfizer. I hadn't been able to go inside her facility, and asked her on the phone how her arm was. She didn't think it ached or was sore. I became concerned that maybe somehow she hadn't gotten her vaccination that day, and asked her to look at her shoulder for a bandaid. She had a bandaid ;0) 94 yrs next month.

Friend of mine woke up mentioned in a comment that all of her joints were aching along with her back. Each person's body reacts differently. I have wondered a couple of things based on recent news articles. Most are expected to have some type of reaction and it is being written that it means the body is building antibodies. If that is true perhaps the body already has the antibodies so no reaction. Some strains of the virus were circulating around the world long before the outbreak in China was announced.

Completely anecdotal reports - Friends and family who have had the Pfizer vaccine seemed to have little or no reactions at all. Those who got Moderna often felt tired or, for some, somewhat ill, the next day but it passed. My reaction to the second Moderna dose was just that - I felt fatigued the next day and took a very rare and (for me) uncharacteristic nap. I felt better when I awoke 90 minutes later and was back to normal the next day.

I had no reaction from Pfizer. DH was very tired and ‘floaty’ headed for about three days and also felt very hot the first night. But not bad enough to skip a 7 mile walk the next day or to miss his weekend run. No bandaids. Couldn’t even see the site.

Had 1st Moderna, and moved my arm around a lot and drank extra water. No side effect other than my arm was a little sore if I pressed it. I get my 2nd Moderna beginning of April.

Had Moderna...first shot had no reactions at all. Second (last Friday) my

arm was a bit sore to the touch. That just lasted one day. Felt fine since.

Hoping that will be it.

I had my first Pfizer injection this weekend. No reaction except the injection site was slightly tender to the touch. But no more than my periodic, required-for-gardening tetanus shot. Second injection on the 27th.

I got the second Moderna shot this past Friday. My arm was sore to the point I couldn't use it to pull off my sweater over my head or unscrew the cap of a water bottle. Saturday morning around 3am , I woke up sweating like crazy. I did take Tylenol on Saturday. Arm was still quite sore Saturday and I had zero ambition, but by Sunday morning my arm wasn't as sore and I felt a lot better. Today, I'm back to normal! So happy to have the two shots done.

I got my second Moderna shot today, and so far, only my arm is a tiny bit sore. After my first shot, I developed several rashes on my back, arms, legs, and the tops of my feet. These were really bad a couple of weeks ago but now not so much, although they have not completely gone away. I wasn't sure whether they were related to the vaccine or not, but the technician today told me that it is common to get rashes with this vaccine. If the rash comes back with a vengeance, I will take Benedryl, as she recommended. I've been putting lotion on the rashes and for a few days, I had to take Ibuprofen for the pain from the itching. I have an appointment with my dermatologist on April 7, and I can discuss this with him at that time. In the meantime, the technician told me that if the rash becomes unbearable that I should go to UCLA Urgent Care, which I can visit in Marina Del Rey, and so that is fairly convenient.

I had to pay $24 to park today, which I thought was way too expensive, but I managed to get free parking when I went for my first shot. It is always expensive to park in Santa Monica - it is worse than Beverly Hills.

We have had both Moderna shots. In both cases DH had somewhat more of a reaction including a small fever the second time and general muscle ache. Me a little sore and tired with the second shot. We went into town today and it was such a relief to not have to be so paranoid. I saw some old fat fool walk into one of the stores just ahead of me. No mask of any kind. I would not mention weight except he was obviously high risk. He has probably had his shots. I hope so but still.....

Had our second Pfizers on Friday...no problem.

We know of two people who are having somewhat weird reactions. Not sure yet if they had P or M. One has a terrible rash all over with intense itching and sores inside her mouth. Another developed a hives-type rash with intense itching after shot #1. She was finally put on prednisone that was the only thing that helped. Then she developed severe bicep pain with large knot and her arm was turning blue-ish from injection site to elbow. ER trip showed no blood clot, and the docs are guessing it was internal bruising from the injection. At first the docs told her to avoid the second shot and wait for the J&J shot. Now they say no J&J either. She's improving so we'll see.

Lars - we have a friend who developed painful hives after his first Moderna vaccine and is taking Benadryl.

having both shots, allow 2 weeks for them to become fully effective. It was

said that a lot of people thought that the minute the last shot was given, they

were completely protected.

That's important advice. The minute you get the second vaccine is NOT the time to let your guard down. It will take at least two weeks to build up the immunity to the 90 something % efficacy. I plan to wear my mask everywhere indoors unless people are fully vaccinated.

My mom (88) had her second Moderna injection last Tuesday. She had a sore arm that afternoon and felt tired. The next two days were a nightmare. I came to stay so that she would remain safe in her home. Extreme muscle weakness and total exhaustion. She could barely move from her bed to the bathroom, and she is pretty spry. Yesterday was the first day she was able to navigate around the house without difficulty. I’m still here to make sure everything’s okay. I’ll probably go home tomorrow (I live an hour away.)

My mom's reaction to the first Moderna shot was nothing, but she got modestly sick the evening of her second shot. It led to a bunch of phone calls back and forth checking in (she's elderly, but spry and healthy...still, one worries). She felt great the next morning.

Her best friend got her first with Mom and didn't react, then was operated on for breast cancer and got her second shot three weeks after that. Her reaction was...horrible, but fortunately short-lived, and only a few hours. She's now back to normal and running around her house like nothing's happened. :-)

So one (or even a few) days of mild to moderate sick is far better than COVID in any case, and I'll be getting my inoculation the instant I can, with Moderna or any other one I can source!

DH and I got the Pfizer, no reaction after first shot except sore arm. When we went for second shot there was a nurse there that explained what might happen and why after second shot.

She said that when you get the first shot your body goes, " What the heck is that in me and starts to make antibodies to fight it off." When you get the second shot your body goes; "What the heck, I thought I got rid of that and now I'm angry and gonna really get after it!"

After second shot on the next day I had a slight fever and a bit of a headache, yep, my body was not happy with me inviting that sucker back!!!

DH had no problems.

I had reactions both times. Just made me know it was "working". My co-workers sort of worried theirs didn't work because they had so few reactions. Grass is always greener

Quite interesting, I probably had Covid in January 2020 so if I am ever eligible to get the vaccine I have a greater likelihood of reacting. Hoping that this is over before they get to my 55+ and retired age range, I'm thinking November would be the earliest my state could get there.

VgQn and I got our 1st Moderna shots 1 week ago, no problems, just the typical sore arm for 48 hours. 2nd shot on Apr 1st, hope they're not fooling.

I had my first Moderna injection about 24 hours ago. Sore arm. Also woke up with what feels like the start of a small cold. Hoping that just means it's working and it passes quickly.

Not looking forward to the 2nd shot, but also know it's the smart thing to do. I'm just really hoping the side effects aren't too horrible for me as I have a major work meeting the very next day. It wouldn't have been my preference for scheduling, but I took the appointment yesterday when it was offered because I've been looking for my first shot for weeks now.

I had the first Moderna injection this morning about 6 hours ago and now i'm having a mild fever. Is that common? Seems fast for a reaction. I'm trying not to worry.

102 y.o. mentally alert MIL, DH, DIL all had Moderna. MIL and DH had no side effects. DIL in bed with both vaccinations. She also had Covid a few months ago. She's a health care provider and has heard that reactions from the vaccination can be more severe in those who have had Covid; no idea how accurate that is. I had Pfizer #1 with no side effects at all.

Chi, yes, can be common. It's almost leading me to think happens more frequently in the younger than more aged. But a friend in early 80's had injection #2 (Pfizer) about 1 PM in the afternoon last week and by 5 PM in bed with fever, chills, aches. At midnight that same night she reported back to 99% of normal. And fine in the morning. Not resenting her shot at all, but said that was the first time in decades she had felt flu-like. Short lived. Best of luck to you that yours is too.

I've heard that it does hit younger people harder as we tend to have stronger immune systems and a stronger response. I'm in my 30's. Hopefully it'll go away soon. I'm wary of the 2nd one now!

Husband got his second shot yesterday morning and has had zero side effects, not even a sore arm.

Just as the virus hits us all a bit differently the vaccines are too. There is not scientific, medical reason one gets a reaction and another does not. It's is all anecdotal none of it is a pattern of anything. I had my second yesterday. Don't really know when to respond to this as 24-48 hours after is the norm for reactions to appear. Sleep was not a thing last night which has me very tired and lethargic today. Rainy and colder so its a great day to lay low anyway. How have those blood related to you done? My parents are both fully vaccinated and had no reaction. I think looking to your family makes more sense than comparing age or other factors.

I've heard younger people and those who have already have covid generally get hit harder in terms of side effects. It can vary greatly in families. I have a friend in his 30's who had it and he didn't get a fever but he got bad body aches, which I did not get.

My fever spiked to 102 last night but now it's back to just slightly above normal so I think the worst has passed. Just a really sore arm now but otherwise feel pretty good.

News show reported yesterday that 80% of people having reactions to the shots are women. No explanation.

Consistent with chi's comment, to add to what I mentioned earlier, as among my 30-something kids and their spouses who got the Moderna vaccine, their reactions to their second doses seemed to be slightly greater than either my wife or I experienced. Pfizer vaccine recipient family members seemed to experience slight reactions at worst and one, no reaction. Before anyone asks about how these 30-somethings received vaccine doses already, all are healthcare providers and were in a higher priority tier than I am (>65).

Moderna second dose of the vaccine: I felt like I had a hangover the day of and the entire next day. My temperature reached 101.3 by midnight the day I received the vaccine.

Moderna—angry, hot, red bump at injection site. Took 3 weeks to slowly resolve and still looks like a light bruise. I’m not complaining.

I had first Moderna shot on Monday. Monday night it was sensitive to lie on so I slept on the other side. On Tuesday my arm was sore and stiff but moving it around during the day helped.

On Tuesday night I was having dreams that included my arm aching, and it woke me up. My arm was throbbing so intensely! Screaming at me. I seriously couldn't believe how much it hurt, and I have a pretty high pain tolerance.

I took 2 ibuprofens and after an hour they hadn't touched it. I took two more (I know .... be careful with ibu's) and that softened it enough so that I was able to sleep lightly for awhile. No problem last night but my arm is still a bit achy.

Makes me a little concerned about how the 2nd shot is going to affect me.

I think I've written elsewhere that I had no reaction to the first or second shots of Moderna. DH and I got our seconds Mar. 5, and I wasn't thrilled that our volunteer 'shooter' turned out to be the hospital's chief of staff. (How much practice does HE have giving shots?)

I got a huge bruise that afternoon, but it was nothing compared to the big, hot, red swelling that developed yestarday. My antibodies must be staging a massive attack in there! Guess I'll wait and watch and hope it calms down.

I've posted this on another thread, but I'm sure it's not the first time I've repeated myself. After my first Moderna shot I had that "coming down with something" feeling in the evening and then slept 10 hours. Woke up feeling fine, but a few hours later all I wanted to do was sit. Still a little tired the next day, but after that I was okay.

With the second shot, I was prepared to lay low, but I felt fine. No reaction at all. Even my arm didn't hurt much. But on the fourth day after the shot I felt exhausted and achy all day. No fever, but definitely didn't feel well. it lasted just one day. I learned reactions to the shots can be delayed 4 or 5 days, especially the rash (which I did not have).

A friend of mine had an unusually severe reaction to the first shot, and with the second she had a fever for days. I spoke with her on Tuesday, day 4, and she still had a low-grade fever. I hope by now it has resolved.

Your reaction sounds normal. If you had no reaction, it may be because you already had been exposed, had a mild case, or had developed antibodies, and then, there are some who have no reaction or so little that it is not noticed.

I had one hour of mild chills two days after the first shot, and no reaction after the 2nd shot.

Spouse had zero reactions to his second Moderna dose a week ago now. I also hope to be that lucky.

1st Moderna shot - just a sore arm

2nd Moderna shot - after 24 hours fever started (up to 101), very painful arm, chills, headache and upset stomach. Side effects lasted about 40 hours, then went away.

Not Moderna, but I've just talked to the first person I know who took the 'one and done' Johnson and Johnson vaccine. He and his wife both got it from their PC - both are 55 yrs old. He owns a little convenience store and was working, said about 8 PM that same day he became chilled. When he got home later that evening, a temp of 102. His wife gave him tylenol and he went to bed and slept. Fine the next morning and he worked all afternoon and evening on the second day without issues.

Raee, thanks for that info. I submitted my reactions to the vaccination, and perhaps this will help. My reactions were not severe enough to warrant not getting vaccinated, but it would have been helpful to know that I could take Benadryl to help relieve some of the symptoms.

The reactions to report don't need to be severe or significant - they want to hear about all of them. Lars, I am glad that you took the step to report! I also had a rash (Pfizer vaccine) that lasted just about 20 hours - I looked like I had a sunburn all over. No itching thank goodness!

My friend had a slight reaction to the first Moderna vax. Sore arm, red bump/lump and rash that persisted for about a week. With the second shot, she had zero reaction, not even a sore arm.

This was counter to everything we had read and even what she was told when she got the second shot--which was to expect a bit more reaction to the 2nd dose than she experienced with the first.

I had my second Moderna a little more than 48 hours ago and I have no reaction other than a sore arm. I expected a reaction. I worried for nothing, I guess.
