I need help right away! Do I match the color of my new front door
Comments (4)I had a faux finish on the interior of my door and hated it. Made the interior of the entrance dark and drab. What a difference a paint of coat made on it. I have all stained wood and hardwood. I repainted the interior of my front door just one shade lighter than the walls....See MoreNeed some help to match my kitchen tile floor with my wood flooor
Comments (29)Gray flooring is very trendy - which means it will become the dreaded "dated". While light gray as a neutral will always be useful, the extreme over use of gray will turn on itself - just as over use of oak did. If this was a cheap laminate gray floor with a limited lifespan - no big deal (except the waste in the landfill) but you had better love this expensive floor 10 years from now when the HGTV crowd will say "yuck - look at all that gray" - just like they say "Yuck, look at all that oak" now. If you will love it, go ahead. I have my oak kitchen which I like just fine. However, a natural wood floor will add color and will go with just about any style thrown at it. It is best if one applies the trendy colors to easily changed surfaces - like paint for walls, decor, curtains, upholstery and even a backsplash if it is not a huge expense. Listen to SJ - she is a flooring expert. The gray, gray rooms just looked washed out - especially when all the new design pics I am seeing are showing color....See MoreHelp, my marble tile floor doesn't match my marble slab countertops.
Comments (105)Renee you must be overwhelmed with all of these comments. Your countertops are GORGEOUS, so I do hope you keep them. Sophie's suggestion to stain the floors is well worth looking into. For what it is worth my suggestion for your backsplash is to go with a simple solid tile in a lighter color that coordinates with the countertop. I would suggest you not go too small with the tile- 3x6 to 4x12 would be a good size to stick with. You want to avoid too much movement in the backsplash as the counter (and the floor) have quite a bit of movement and you do not want them competing. Let the countertop be the star of the show. Good luck and let us know how it all ends up for you....See MoreHelp! Do I paint my walls to match my Simply White cabinets?
Comments (11)Would definitely repaint the walls but, since the cabinets are darker than you anticipated, take that into consideration as you choose your paint color. The greater the color contrast, the more stark and visually jarring it will be. For cabinets with dark wood, you might consider a very pale brown -- a tan but without any pink or yellow hue. For the wall above the stove, unless the wall / backsplash you've chosen is specifically intended for behind a stove -- at/near a heat source -- you might consider adding a stainless steel panel to the wall. Some are plain, (some have a pattern - wouldn't want to clean those) https://www.amazon.com/Broan-SP3004-Backsplash-30-Inch-Stainless/dp/B000AMOBA8/ref=asc_df_B000AMOBA8/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167164501807&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5536208050760022543&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9011058&hvtargid=pla-274535230950&psc=1 and some have shelves for your S&P and/or a rod for "S" hooks for hanging your stir spoon or spatula, etc., instead of needing an oversized spoon rest -- keeping things handy while you cook: https://www.vevor.com/products/vevor-range-backsplash-with-shelf-stainless-steel-backsplash-29x29-wall-shield?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgKi42-OT8wIVKmpvBB2UwgbKEAQYBCABEgLk9_D_BwE...See Morelindac92
