Hi Girls- Giving DH a lesson
Comments (10)Hey, I showed him, but he wouldn't ACTUALLY post a message! He will have forgotten how if I were to get hurt! I guess I will have to show DD how!! We went to finish our Christmas shopping last night and he wandered away in TJ Maxx for a while. He waited UNTIL WE GOT HOME to tell me about a couple of things he saw that I probably would have liked!!! DRATS!! I think the crowds of Ladies with baskets everywhere sort of got on his nerves. He gets a little claustrophobic inside of buildings with lots of people. Too bad he had forgotten about them by the time I checked out. He could have told me and I could have gone back in and bought them while he waited outside! When we moved here I had all of my family over, then all of his family over for dinner on a couple of occasions and he waited until I had done this several times before he told me about it. So, I will be having large gatherings in the summer from now on where he can get outside and we won't have everyone crowded inside the house when it is too cold to spread out and utilize the great outdoors. (I just have to get busy on the 'weeds everywhere' problem!) LOL Betty...See MoreNeed to augment Wireless Signal to DH's computer in his den
Comments (48)I was able to flush the dns on both the xp and vista laptops. But I still can't connect either laptop wirelessly to the "fmaily room" network (which is still unsecured). I cannot access the Nat,spi or firewall soI don't know if that's the problem. Both laptops show a strong signal (full bars) to the family room network - but don't connect. They do connect via wired connection (does this mean I have so far created a network switch). On both laptops I selected "family room" as the preferred network to connect to. But both connected to my Lynn network (from the opposite corner of the house - with only a weak signal). On the Vista laptop it says Windows cannot connect to "family room" - and when asked to connect to family room, it said "Windows association failed due to an unknown reason." When I selected "diagnose and repair, it said Windows did not find any problems with your Internet connection." Then I tried one further thing. I saw on the Vista laptop that it still listed the family room network as having WPA2 security - so i changed what the laptop had for listed for family room network to reflect no current security settings. Then I tried to connect again. It wouldn't connect. Then I clicked repair/diagnose - and it said "this network is marked as a "hidden" network and is either not in the range of this computer or the wireless settings saved on this computer do not match the settings of the network." It is in range of the network - 3 feet away and receiving a full strong signal. So perhaps the network settings do not match the router or access point (although I'm not sure where to look to check this since I think I set it all up to match). The other thing is says is "if you own or set up this network, reset your wireless router or access point and try connecting again." Should I try this? Does it mean unplugging SMC access point, linksys router and modem - waiting and replugging them in? If so, in what order? Or does this mean resetting the SMC completely and starting from scratch? So now what? Jane - I realize that Mikie's the guy - and I very much appreciate his help. Those links helped me get clearer on definitions, but don't really get specific enough to address these set up complications. Thank you. Lynn....See More?Roaster? DH has a bee in his bonnet!
Comments (14)A reminder that the Nesco does a wonderful roast chicken, or two if you get the larger roaster. I have a 6 qt. Nesco and fix the delicious Sticky Chicken in mine often: Roast Sticky Chicken 3 pounds whole chicken 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon paprika 3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/2 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon thyme 1/4 teaspoon white pepper 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1 large onion -- quartered Combine all spices together in a small bowl. Rub mixture into chicken WELL, inside & out, patting into the skin & try to make it evenly distributed. Put in a large bag & refrigerate overnight. If you don't have time for this step it will still be delicious! Just before roasting, stuff the cavity w/ onions. Roast uncovered at 250F for 5 hours. Baste often w/ pan juices until they caramelize in the pan. Chicken will turn golden brown. These freeze great and you can make several of them at one time since your oven is on for so long. This chicken is to die for and falls off the bone. For Heating: You can bring these straight from the freezer if you want. From the freezer: put in the microwave on a plate covered w/ paper towels & heat on high 5-7 minutes. Then, place in a 350* oven 15-20 minutes or until hot throughout. Or, you can thaw in the refrigerator overnight, wrap in foil and heat in a low oven for 20-30 minutes....See MoreSoccer, BM and hoping DH puts his foot down!
Comments (10)"No need to constantly be running (excuses ?) gear forgotten if all is being transported back and forth in bag." Thank you, Justmetoo! This is how it started with DH and his DD. He moved into a house just a few blocks away from BM's house. There was ALWAYS an excuse for BM to see SD when it was DH's time. It was a way for BM to still have a little bit of control over DH's house. But it evolved from dropping off or picking something up to her just not coming over because it was "easier". How does that make sense? They would forget to send her book bag when she had homework or some certain socks she needed for a concert. So it was "easy" to just drop it off or pick it up. But then, that became too hard and then it became "easier" to just have her stay home to finish her homework or it became "easier" to get her to her event if she stayed home. The definition of "easy" changed. That's why divorce papers and custody agreements are made the way they are. To give clear instructions. That way if the definition of "easy" were to change, it wouldn't change the agreement. I am a very strong advocate of sticking to the papers at almost all costs (very few exceptions). It has worked better for X and I than DH and BM. They always tried to make things "easy", but in the end they only taught her to be indecisive and he has all but lost his daughter. Love - forgetting the shin guards was a ploy on her part to have an excuse to be in another town for his practice. If they don't have any money, how does she afford the gas to be running $10 shin guards around? The restraining order is not "easy" but it is worded that way for a reason. Hitting someone is a serious thing with serious consequences. Stop letting him manipulate YOU into making things "easier" for him. Because that's what he's doing. He is manipulating you into thinking you are being ridiculous so his life can be easier. His definition of "easy" has changed. Don't let him change yours.....please....See Morekathyg_in_mi
