Notification: USB device not recognized

Getting bombarded all of the sudden by these notifications. Turned them off after a while. What causes this generation of "endless" notifications ad nauseum??? I hear/saw it once so why repeat it forever???

Need more details. What's all plugged in via USB? Any new device added or a different cable?

Nothing different/changed than in the previous months. The slots in the desktop are being used by a mouse, keyboard, iphone charger; there is an unused slot but it does not work. I would suspect it obviously as I can try to connect the mouse there and it will not work. No idea what is going on.

@DA To tell you the truth I am not sure why the 30 min, I only discovered those instructions from a Google Search, when I first saw it I said to myself. "It only takes 8 minutes for the Suns light to reach earth at 93Million miles away." Electrons move pretty quick!!!!!!!! Memory (Ram) is cleared out on a reboot so I don't think that's it. The only other device that could store a voltage would be a pretty big capacitor on the machine, if there was a big capacitor it would most likely be in the power supply circuit. Caps that big are unheard of in the desktops Laptops we use today. Could it have something to do with the BIOS Battery??????????????????

I know this is a long time coming. But I remembered this question when I ran across the following information recently. If you have XP Home, Go to your control panel, Double Click the Scanners and Cameras folder to open Connect your camera and turn it on then Right-click on the Camera Icon Left Click on Properties Left Click on the "Events" Tab in the Camera Pop-Up Window There you can either set a program such as "Microsoft Scanners and Camera Wizard" or put a check in "Prompt for which program to run". Which will open that options menu you speak of. There are two other choices there that are pretty well self explanatory. Make sure you click on "Apply" and "OK" If you Use Kodak Easy Share programs below is some other information about seeing your camera in My Computer. For a Windows XP operating system, it is not possible to see the camera as a drive letter when EasyShare software is installed. You can mount the camera as a drive using the Windows imaging acquisition (WIA) driver. To change from the Kodak driver to the WIA driver, do the following: Connect and turn on the camera. In the Transfer window, click Cancel. On the desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, and then select Properties. Select the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. Click the + sign in front of Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then select the Kodak camera. Select the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver. Select Install from a list or specific location, and then click Next. Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install, and then click Next. Select Digital Still Camera, and then click Next. Click Finish. Hope this helps Arlene

Are all USB Cables alike?

Thanks Pooh Bear. My question now is: Will having 1.1 ports prevent me from using USB extension cable or hub? Upon reading the directions one more time I discovered it does say to attach the cable to the frame first. I really didn't think this would make much difference, but it is worth a try. I'd like to invest in a USB extenstion cable or hub anyway, as it seems like that would be useful. ( I would love a flash drive- ports on the back make that next to impossible for me as things are now) Kudzu9, Thank you too! I agree, the frame may have a defect, but I hate to return it without trying a hub or extension cable. I have checked and it appears that most places are out of the Pandigital frame size I have. I like that it has 256MB of memory and will copy a variety of media from a memory card, digital camera or PC Pam

I was getting problems on one desktop & ended up being a bad USB port. It's OK as long as I avoid using that port. Also the device(s) might be having issues -- keyboards are particularly cheap & poor in quality nowadays.

So far, only one of the three has a problem. And it is not being used. I plugged the mouse on the other three and it worked fine on all three ports. No idea what's going on.

This warning can happen when a cord or plug end connection is starting to fail. For example, the contacts can be dirty or misaligned, or one of the many internal wires is starting to develop a crack or have a bad connection. You’re getting multiple messages because the connection is fluctuating and each time this happens the computer recognizes it as a problem. If you want to diagnose where the problem lies, turn the notifications back on. Then, the next time you get a flood of them, you should be able to discover which one is the culprit by unplugging the devices and plugging them back in one at a time. It may also be possible for you to figure this out by looking at your Device Manager, and seeing if any of them have yellow warning flags.

I already tried diagnosing that way when the flood of messages originally happened. Will look at this Dev Mgr suggestion that you mentioned.

kudzu and bengz6westmd, a late update: the problem was due to the Dell Mouse/Keyboard combo. I replaced them with a new pair and the problem went away. The PC ports have been working fine since then too.
